“And your mom?” Gabby asked.

Jezebelle rolled her eyes. “After a month or two of living together, she’ll get the idea it’s legit—even if it’s not. By then I will have things under control. Hopefully. It won’t matter what she says.”

Her mind trailed to the jewelry on her dresser, yet she didn’t look at it. Worse came to worst, she would sell some of it and be damned what her mother thought.

“What does she have hanging over you to scare you this much?” Gabby’s expression softened.

Now that was a long story Jezebelle didn’t want to get into. By the way Mia glanced away, she knew how Jezebelle felt about not wanting to talk about it.

“Let’s just say my mother has always gotten her way, except me moving to New York to follow my dreams. She’s never been happy about it, and she thinks it’s now her time to fix the mistake she knows I made.”

“Well, look, you have an opportunity here.” Mia wiggled her eyebrows, her moment of sadness gone. “I told you before to bone that man out there. You best get to it this time.”

More laughter erupted.

“He’s been so kind to me. I hate to make anything awkward between us.”

“I agree with Mia. Doooooo him,” Gabby drawled with the delicious intent sprinkled in her gaze.

“Fake or not, he’s your fiancé now. You need to get to know him if you plan to pull this off,” Mia added.

Jezebelle chuckled. “I can pull this off without sleeping with the guy. I do act as a living.”

“Yeah, but you know it’d be fun. He is hot.” Gabby grinned. “I love Dane with all my heart, but Brick is hot. Those tattoos. His soulful eyes. That body, so chiseled and hard.”

Mia slapped Gabby on the shoulder. “Stop. We get the point. What would Dane say if he heard you?”

“I would never let him hear that,” Gabby said with a wily smile. “Look, all I’m saying is, you’re in an awkward situation. Make it fun. Take the awkwardness away. Do him. I swear, your mother will not be able to spot any lie.”

“He has no idea what he’s getting into with me. My mother will hate him on sight.” Which made Jezebelle think she should call this whole thing off. The last thing she wanted to do was hurt Brick in any manner.

“And if you married him? What would the judgmental bitch say to that?” Gabby blurted, surprising them with her first swear word of the night. She’d been getting better at curbing her naughty tongue.

Jezebelle flinched, and not by the vicious word she used toward her mother. She was a judgmental bitch. There was no use trying to deny or get insulted by it.

“But I wouldn’t really marry him. He’s helping me out—as a friend.”

Mia and Gabby shared a look, silently communicating.

“What?” Jezebelle demanded, hating she was let out of the secret conversation with the eyes.

“He’s your friend, yes, but that man has been eyeing you for months. Jump his bones tonight and see how he reacts.” The cunning smile on Mia’s face should’ve had Jezebelle worried.

It didn’t.

It had her wondering.

Did he like her? For how long?

Just how should she seduce her fake fiancé tonight?
