As she stuffed the last bite of waffle in her mouth, she asked, “Daddy, what do animals eat when the ground is covered with snow?”
“Don’t talk with your mouth full, baby, you could choke,” he admonished gently before considering her question. “A lot of animals store food for winter in either nests or their dens. Some animals hibernate and the rest, well, they hunt or forage.”
When her mouth was clear, she looked toward the window. “But it would be hard to forage.”
“Yes, I suppose, but animals have been fending for themselves since time began.”
“Could we help? We could make some popcorn and string it and hang it from the bushes. Maybe we could even put some grapes and stuff out on the snow.”
Liam smiled and kissed her cheek. “How about we get some feed corn and some birdseed when we go into town?”
“Can we still string popcorn?”
“Sure, but we’ll have to get that as well. Does this mean you aren’t as worried about going shopping?”
Elena had totally forgotten she’d been worried, but did it really matter what anyone else thought? Liam loved her just the way she was and, if she were honest, she loved wearing the clothes he’d chosen. She knew her happiness pleased him, and she so wanted him to be happy. “I’m not worried, Daddy. I’ll be with you.”
“That’s my girl. All right, we’ll add those items to our list. Now, why don’t you put away the game from last night and pick a movie? We can watch it on my laptop.”
“Yes, sir,” she said, giving his cheek a kiss before she went to put Candy Land away, her body thrumming a bit as she remembered how the evening had ended.
Once she’d picked out a video, she remembered she’d yet to call Katie. A bit afraid his phone had been damaged with its submersion in the snow, she was glad when it powered up with the press of a button. Liam had finished in the kitchen and tugged her onto his lap while she made the call, putting it on speaker.
At the sound of Sean’s hello, she made her apology. “I’m sorry, Sean. I know it was wrong to ask Katie to help me.”
“Thank you, Elena. Tell me, are you feeling better?”
“Oh, yes, sir. I’m feeling great… well, most of me is. Liam… I mean, Daddy, has been wonderful.”
They heard Sean chuckle and she looked over to see her daddy’s grin.
“Ah, I’m sure all of you will be just fine soon. I think you are exactly where you belong, and now that you’ve begun the dynamic you’ve both desired, it is only appropriate you give your daddy the honor of a proper address. I know he’s been waiting a long time to be your daddy. While we’re at it, I want to say that I am also honored to now be your Uncle Sean.”
Elena felt a warmth spread through her. “Thank you, Uncle Sean. May I please speak with Katie?”
“Sure, she’s right here.”
“Elena! I’m so happy for you!”
Katie’s squeal had Elena smiling. “So you’re not angry at me?”
“No! Why would you ask that?”
Elena gave Liam a glance, and he chuckled. “Go ahead and take it off speaker if you want. I’ll set up the computer for our movie.”
“Thank you, Daddy,” she said, pressing the proper button and lowering her voice. “I was afraid you’d get in trouble… maybe get a spanking.”
“Oh, believe me, I did. Daddy might have understood why I did it, but that didn’t keep him from walloping my butt. But, like I told Uncle Liam, it was worth it just to see you two back together. So, how is it going? Are you really happy?”
“I don’t think I could be any happier,” Elena said. “Daddy… wow, isn’t it wonderful that he is my daddy now?”
“Yes, but if he’s anything like mine, I’m sure everything hasn’t been all sunshine and roses,” Katie said.
“Even roses have thorns,” Elena said. “Our daddies must have graduated from the same daddy school. I’m learning that daddies are far stricter and much quicker to turn a naughty girl over their knees than a dom is with his submissive and I thought he was pretty strict then.”
Katie giggled. “I’m guessing that means your butt is a little tender?”
“Yes, and I’m beginning to wonder if I’ll make it through a day without getting smacked.”
