“They say he has a big manor house where he keeps his favourite girls. Sometimes he holds parties there but it’s invite only.”

“Is that your thing, Tommy, huh? Preying on innocent young girls,” I ask with disgust clear in my tone and on my face.

“Hell no. The guy is sick in the head. I heard some of them are jailbait. Why do you think he’s so pissed with you? Ain’t just because he wants to screw you.”

“What are you talking about?” Maddox asks, taking a step forward.

Realising he’s slipped up, Tommy tries to back track. “Nothing. I’m…just asking, like why he’s so mad at you is all.”

“Well, isn’t that the biggest load of shite you ever heard,” Kavanagh drawls, and I swear he accentuates his Irish brogue for Tommy’s benefit. “May I?” Kavanagh asks, pointing to the bat in my hand.

“Oh, no. I just discovered my joy, and you sure as fuck ain’t stealing it from me. Get your own,” I reply with a shake of my head.

“Fuck me now,” Zak mutters, and I look over and give him a wink. I don’t miss the uncomfortable looking bulge in the front of his trousers, or the lust crazed look in Maddox’s eyes as I scan him from head to toe.

“Very well. How about you do the honours while I ask some questions, Roxy.”

“My fucking pleasure,” I say happily.

“Do you know who I am, Tommy?” Tommy nods, and Kavanagh continues, “And do you know a man named Stanley Taylor?” This time Tommy shakes his head. “What do you know about a girl called Anastasia?” My eyes snap to Kavanagh, mouth open ready to ask him what the fuck he’s doing when he puts out a hand to quiet me. I feel someone behind me a second before their hand grips my hip, and his cedar and smoke scent invades my body and calms my rage a little. Not enough to stop me from giving Tommy’s busted knee a not so gentle tap when he doesn’t answer fast enough.

“Ow, fuck.” His eyes are ablaze with pain and fury. And I’ve no doubt that given the chance Tommy Evans would like to see me in the ground. “I know she’s Whitmore’s sister, and Rogers is looking for her. Past that I don’t know shit.”

Remembering his conversation with the two guys outside earlier, I ask, “Who were the two dickheads you were talking to outside?”

There’s a look of surprise on his face as he realises I must have been listening in.

“Brad and I don’t know the other guy’s name. And before you ask, I don’t know who called or where they went.”

I roll my eyes because ‘I don’t know’ seems to be Tommy’s phrase of the day. I turn my face to the side so I can whisper to Maddox without Tommy seeing what I’m saying.

“They mentioned Rogers had something to use as leverage against you?”

Maddox nods his head, then whispers, “Later. But not before I’ve reddened your arse for disappearing, Tinks.”

I hum at the filthy promise wrapped up in those words. I turn even further towards him and whisper, “Are you going to fuck me in it too?” Maddox’s grip on my hip tightens as he pulls my lower body closer to his, and I don’t need his words to know he absolutely intends to fuck my arse, but he gives them to me anyway.

“I’m going to rail your arse so fucking deep, you’ll feel me in your throat,” Maddox growls, grinding into me just to make sure I understand. Oh, I understand alright! And I can’t fucking wait.

With my concentration elsewhere, the bat slips beneath my hand and slides right off Tommy’s knee garnering a low howl from him.

Getting it back under my control, I turn away from Maddox and look to Tommy, whose face is screwed up tight with pain.

“What are we going to do with this snivelling sack of shit,” Zak asks, watching Tommy writhe on the floor.

“I’m not convinced he’s told us everything he knows, so he could be useful, or we just leave him here and let the Acers or Rogers deal with him,” I reply.

Kavanagh pulls his own gun and points it right at Tommy’s head. He instantly stops moving and groaning and starts begging instead.

“No, no, please. I can find out more.”

“Bullshit, Tommy. Rogers would never trust you with the important stuff,” Zak calls him out.

“Maybe not, but I can find out about the meet between Laskin and Bonner.” He pauses hoping it will be enough to prevent Kavanagh from spraying his brains out all over the floor. Kavanagh, Maddox and Zak all look at me completely in the dark over what he’s talking about. Waving a dismissive hand, I look back to Tommy.

“Seems like you might have got yourself a small reprieve for now.” Turning to the three men in front of me, I add, “Looks like Bonner is trying to set himself up a deal with Laskin behind Rogers’ back.”

“Well, that’s interesting,” murmurs Kavanagh before he leans down and clocks Tommy round the head with his gun, knocking him out clean. Rising back up, he says, “Let’s get him out of here before anyone returns.”
