The sun is just rising as we make it back to the house, and I head straight for the shower. My dick has been as hard as fucking rock since I pulled my knife out to play. As the water starts to run clear, I take myself in my hand, giving a tug as an image of Rox riding Maddox’s face comes into mind. I’m behind her, pushing into her tight little hole with my knife against her throat… I come in a matter of minutes and curse my imagination for conjuring something that seems impossible any time soon, reminding me exactly where Rox is.

I head for the office where I can hear Maddox crashing around. When I enter, he’s pulling papers from drawers and files are spread all over the desk.

“What are you looking for?” He doesn’t answer, so I ask again, “Maddox, what the fuck are you looking for?”

“Dammit!” His fist comes down on the desk making everything jump. He slumps into his chair, huffing out a tired sigh. His eyes come to mine then move to something behind me.

Spinning in my chair, I see Mitch standing there and holding a thick folder. He steps forward, dropping the file on the desk and taking a seat beside me.

“Before you ask, she’s fine.”

“What is all this,” I ask, picking up the file and opening it.

“Roxy asked me to get her a copy of her mother’s file, and the rest is details on all the leads we’ve followed over the years searching for Star.”

My eyes skim over the pages of missing girls, all of them could have been her. There’s even an artist’s impression of how she could look now.

“This is all fucking great, but I don’t give a flying shit about this right now. I want to know what’s happening with Roxanne,” Maddox snaps.

“I told you, she’s fine.”

“Fine? What does fine look like when she’s locked up facing a murder charge, Mitch?”

“Fine is not having been charged with anything. Look, I’m just as much out of the loop on this one as you. Noah made sure it’s all been kept under wraps.”

“Course he fucking did! Double crossing cunt.”

We all nod at that assessment. I never liked the guy, even before she started screwing him. My lip curls at the thought of him touching what doesn’t belong to him. She might have been fucking him, but she isn’t and never will be his.

“I’m assuming you arranged a solicitor for her?” Mitch asks.

Maddox rolls his eyes at the question, and Mitch accepts that as answer enough, and I go back to scanning the leads on Star.

A name jumps out at me, and I skip back to the start of the report. Once I’ve read it all the way through, I turn to Maddox.

“Looks like I found the reason Rox was so protective of Eva.” I hand the sheet to Maddox’s outstretched hand. “Did you know about this?” I direct to Mitch.

“If you mean Eva Trent, then, yeah, I knew.”

“And you didn’t think to tell us?” I ask, my tone slipping into pissed off.

“Why would I?” he asks, slightly baffled. Then before I can say anything more, he says, “How do you know Eva?” A deep frown appears between his eyes.

“You spoke to Rox in the last couple of days?” He shakes his head. “Rox just helped Eva and herboyfriendleave town.”

“Leave town? What do you mean?” His eyes flick between me and Maddox, and I sense concern in his tone. I also sense that he’s unsure of how much to share with us.

“We know who she really is, Mitch?” At my words his eyes widen in surprise. “There are other things at play, namely Axel, and Rox told us while demanding that Eva was unharmed. This”—I wave the sheet in the air—“explains why. The question is are these two incidents connected or purely coincidence?”

Mitch lets out a heavy sigh and runs a hand through his hair. “We’ve never been able to find a connection between the two, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t one. What does A…” He pauses, realisation finally dawning. “He’s the boyfriend,” he states gruffly.

I nod in answer and drop the papers to the desk. Whilst finding Star has always been important, currently, getting Rox out is top priority.

“It seems that not only has Axel been sticking it to the enemy’s daughter, one he knows fuck all about, he’s been blackmailed into outing us based on that little fucking secret,” I tell Mitch.

“I’m going to guess Rogers has something to do with it.”
