Chapter 34

Stormy

Iknew I’d be safewith Armand and Trinity. So, I wore some of my new clothes. My mother and the Barnes had me convinced that showing any skin at all was not only whorish, but I was just asking for some man to manhandle me or worse.

The scars on my legs made it easier for me to cover them up. In the past, anyway. Willow had been helping me rework that thought process since we met. Gambit’s love and passion helped me throw the worries about my scars away. I didn’t need them anymore.

Next week I had a consultation with a scar removal spa. Papa and Wizard found it for me. October fourth, Gambit and I were going to get tattoos. Although he warned me, mine might take over one session.

I hurried over to the bags. I knew just the dress for tonight. A cream silk with a celestial pattern in deep teal. The dress had beading along the neckline and hemline. A large corset belt cinched my waist. The sleeves were fitted and ended at my wrists. I added a pair of killer boots. The black boots were made of soft suede and ended above my knees. They had three and a half inch heels. The heels were a little wider than normal but not quite a chunky heel. I’d be able to dance just fine in these babies.

After running a brush through my hair, I pulled part of the front back to the back crown of my head and let it all hang loose down my back.

With a final look in the mirror, I headed downstairs, grabbing my purse along the way. The necklace and earrings Gambit gave me for my birthday were perfect for the outfit. Delicate golden crowns with a heart-shaped diamond hanging just below them.

Armand was letting Trinity in the front door as I reached them. He turned to smile at me. “Perfect timing.”

Trinity gave his friend a one-armed man-hug before turning to me. His smile would have made my panties melt if I wasn’t already head over heels in love with Gambit. Trinity is the guy that’s almost too handsome to be real. You expect something about him to be fake because of it. Yet I’d only seen him show warmth and compassion during our brunch meetings.

Trinity took my hand pressing his lips briefly against the back of it.

“Armand, you and I are the luckiest bastards in New Orleans tonight. We get to escort this incredibly stunning young lady.”

My cheeks heated. I heard Armand chuckle.

“Your modesty only makes your beauty shine brighter.”

“Thank you. Both of you.”

Trinity whistles before walking around me. He put his arms across my shoulders and pulled me closer.

“Armand, don’t you think Gambit would want to see his Queen all dressed up?”

Armand grinned. “He’s going to kill you.”

“Nah. He might punch me. Make sure you get good pics when we dance later.”

I couldn’t help but laugh. I’d noticed Trinity and Gambit picking at each other in a good-natured manner. They liked to rib each other, and one up each other.

His arm still loosely around me, Trinity asked, “Since it’s just the three of us. Why don’t we head to Doris’ for happy hour?”

“Yes please.” I laugh.

“Armand, do we have a driver?”
