"Where does his son, Benjamin by the way in case you didn't know, work?"

She's right, that is his son's name, but again...that can easily be found online.

"Last I remember his dad was trying to get him some cushy, status-driven job, but was surprisingly having trouble with it."

"Until he decided to provide extra security to a certain luxury goods store, who in turn agreed to hire his son."

"Which luxury goods store?"

"The same one he'd have insider knowledge and access to, which would allow him to escape the scene of a crime even after officer's arrived. No small feat."

I shake my head in disbelief.

"Don't believe me? That just means you haven't read the police report yet."

"I was sleeping all day. Weren't you?"

"Barely," she says, taking a sip of her orange juice, taking in the big glass with her two tiny hands. "How could I when I have so much riding on this."

"And how do you know so much about Benjamin?"

"Easy what you can learn when you go into a jewelry store in the middle of the afternoon on a weekday in a low-cut top and a smile on your face."

"You didn't?" I growl.

"He never put a single finger on me, Frank," she says, reaching across the table and running the tip of her index finger down my arm.

My cock firms more than it already is, goosebumps forming on my arm.

"But that doesn't mean he doesn't want to," she purrs.

I pound the table with my fist, my coffee spilling out of the top and onto the table. The waitress looks at me, a rag already in her hand, but decides otherwise, not coming to our table.

"You're in town a week and you're already playing how many men?"

"I'm here to get justice for my mom. And for the record, I'm not leading you on."

"How can I know that?"

"Officer," she says, shaking her head. "You've been on the force down here for ten years, done a lot of good from what I'm gathering. But, this will send you into another stratosphere in terms of your career. And more importantly, it will show you just how good of a team we can make."

I let out a long breath. Kids these days are way better with tech than I am. It's believable to think she tracked Benjamin down, seduced him, and was able to pull off that burglary, but why? Why would she steal for the sake of stealing?

"What did you take from the store?" I ask, trying to change directions.

"You saw me. Nothing."

"Then why do it?"

"Because I got something even better than an expensive French purse." She pauses. "I got dirt on the man who I think is holding up mom's wrongful death termination. Your boss, Chief Braxton."
