"Yeah. What's about to get big and round and explode, making us more happy than we've ever been?"

Scratching his temple he draws a blank. "You want to have a water balloon fight?"

I roll my eyes, but can't stop from laughing. "No goofy!" Rubbing my hand in a circle around my belly I keep my eyes locked on his.

"I was never good at charades. You're hungry...wait!"

A moment of realization hits him and he shakes his head. "No?"

I nod. "Oh, yes."

He wraps me up in a hug, this time peppering my face with kisses.

"First mystery. Boy or girl? Second. What will we call him or her?"

"Doesn't matter," I say.

"You're right. All that matters is that I love you."

"I love you."

We hold each other tight until finally, he whispers into my ear. "About that role-playing."

"I didn't know I was speeding officer," I say, putting the tip of my finger to my lips.

But in one way I do, because this life with him is speeding right along. Time sure does fly when you're having fun. And we're having the time of our lives. Together.

Just me and my dad's cop friend. Soon to be retired so he can devote all his time to what comes first. Family.

Our family. Always.
