"Why are you looking at me like that?" she asked as she finished the story.

"Because I love you," he said, leaning forward and lowering his voice, "and you've just given me the title and cover for my new book. I must think of a suitable way to say thank you."

"I think you already did," she replied, holding up her new bag.

"What a devilish mind you have. You even daydream your schemes."

"Not anymore."

"You can fantasize your diabolical plots all you want, just don't act on them."

"I won't, not with you, anyway. I think the flight's about to be called. I'm going to make a quick run to the powder room. I won't be a minute."

Though he smiled as she left, his head was spinning. Was she really his second chance at happiness? How would she respond when he took her to the salacious country estate, Andover Abbey? Would she be able to cope with the hustle and bustle of London after living in a small town?

"So many questions," he said with a sigh. "What I'd give for a crystal ball."
