“I don’t understand.”

“If I leave you naked you just might stay put.”

“Marco…”

“Hey, you’ve had enough excitement. I’ll come and get you when things are under control, and there’s a bathrobe hanging on the back of the door if you need it.”

Letting out a dramatic sigh, she was about to make a comment when she found herself swept up by an unexpected yawn. “I’m suddenly so tired.”

“You’re buzzed, baby,” he muttered, sitting on the side of the couch.

Roaming his hand down her body, he played with her curly bush, then pushed her thighs apart. As he touched his fingers against her clit and began to rub, she let out a soft groan.

“That’s so nice,” she purred, closing her eyes. “Please will you lie down next to me?”

“The couch is too narrow,” he replied, continuing to tease her, then abruptly withdrew his hand, “and you are way too tempting.”

“Please don’t stop. Pretty please?”

“You need to get some rest. Take a nap. When you wake up you’ll be able to see what’s going on with your laptop.”

Lifting the blanket from the back of the couch and laying it over her, he leaned down, kissed her softly, then smoothed several strands of rogue hair off her face.

“Are you going to behave and stay put?”

“Uh-huh.”

“Where’s your cell phone?”

“Shit. It’s in my bag downstairs.”

“Never mind. The house phone is sitting on the side table behind your head.”

“Please be careful.”

“As I’ve told you before,” he murmured, bending down and planting another quick kiss on her lips, “careful is my middle name.”

Forty-five minutes later, after an urgent call and speaking to his men on the grounds, Marco’s plans were in place. Quickly returning to the security room to finalize details, Benny told him Max had just checked in.

“That’s great,” Marco said. “I need to talk to him. By the way, what happened with that flash drive? Did you put it in Joe’s old computer?”

“I was just about to tell you,” Benny declared with a grin. “We did, and sure enough a time bomb appeared.”

“Why is that funny?”

“Because it exploded into a cartoon of Bugs Bunny and the wordsjust kiddingwritten above his head. He was toying with us. There was nothing on there except a bunch of meaningless photos.”

“I’m glad he’s on our side,” Marco remarked. “Anything we need to discuss?”

“I’m all set. I’ll wait for your signal to kill the lights. If something’s wrong, I’ll flash them twice before they go dark.”

“It’s show time. I’ll run up and give Steph the good news about Max, then I’ll call him. Good work, Benny.”

“I can’t wait to see this go down,” Benny said with a grin as Marco headed to the door.

“You and me both, Benny!”
