“Just treat Anna Lee with respect and dignity. That’s it. I don’t want you pawing her, sticking your tongue down her throat, or making rude comments. Not today, not tomorrow, not ever. Do that one simple thing and the footage will never see the light of day.”

“You’re fuckin’ her, you’ve gotta be.”

“You may find this hard to believe, but it’s possible to care about a woman and not be bedding her,” Zach declared, rising to his feet. “Act like a professional for once in your life.”

“Fuck!”

“Forgive me if I’m being redundant, but I need to make this abundantly clear. Anna Lee is off-limits. Don’t hit on her, don’t be crass, no vulgar comments, nothing. Play the part of a gentleman. You think you can do that?”

“Get out of here.”

Though his heart was racing, Zach turned away and moved to the door, but as he was about to open it, he paused.

“Jackson, hurt that girl and I’ll ruin you.”

“Okay, okay. Now get the fuck out of my sight.”

As he stepped outside and closed the door behind him, Zach took in a deep breath. It hadn’t been pleasant, but he knew he’d won.

“Where can I find Anna Lee Pickford?” he asked the bodyguard, unable to suppress his smile.

“Third one down.”

“Thanks.”

Striding quickly to her trailer, Zach knocked on the door.

“Anna, it’s Zach.”

“I’m so happy you’re here,” she exclaimed, opening it and stepping aside as he entered. “I was doing really well when I arrived, but it’s been such a long wait.”

“I heard,” he replied, giving her a hug. “That’s one of the reasons I came by. I have some news I think will help. I heard our movie star asshole is going to be on his best behavior.”

“You’re kidding? Details, give me details.”

“I don’t have any. It was just something I picked up at the office. When I found out shooting had been delayed I came over here to tell you in person. After three hours I thought you could use some support.”

“I hope you’re right.”

“I am. Take a deep breath, collect yourself, and as long as you’re Miss Professional you’ll have nothing to worry about.”

“Thank you! I can breathe again. Uh, Zach?”

“Yes, Anna?”

“I don’t mean this in a romantic way, but I love you.”

“I feel the same,” he said, giving her a hug. “Call me when you’re finished and tell me how it went. I have to get moving. I’m having a dinner with an agent about a script.”

“When aren’t you having dinner with an agent about a script?” she said with a giggle.

“Sad but true. Now go and break a leg.”
