But to her shock, he didn’t spank her, but he pulled her up and wrapped her into his arms.

“It’s time to leave. We’re going back to my place.”

“Zach? Can I tell you something?”

“You can tell me anything.”

“I, uh, I can’t believe this is happening. I never imagined...”

“You’d meet a man who would take you on?”

“Uh-huh, and I feel so weak.”

“I know, princess, and that’s exactly how you should be feeling.”

SLIPPING THE STRAPback into his pocket, Zach guided Emma away from the private spot, and down the pathway towards the small bridge that would take them to the parking lot. But she suddenly stopped.

“Zach? Do you have to be at the office early in the morning?”

“Not really, why?”

“Why don’t we get a room?”

“That’s the smartest thing you’ve said since I met you,” he said with a grin. “Do you want to wait in the lounge or the registration room?”

“The lounge, and I promise I won’t order a drink.”

“You’ll be rewarded for that!”

Moving into the dimly lit cocktail lounge, he left her at a table by the piano, and walked quickly to the hotel’s reception room. Being a Friday night, and not wanting to take any chances, he presented his business card along with his driver’s license to the impeccably groomed clerk behind the desk. As Zach knew he would, the young man studied it, smiled, and lifted his gaze.

“We’re delighted to have you here, Mr. Taylor. What type of room would you like, and how many nights will you be with us?”

“A Grand Deluxe King with a patio and fireplace, and I might stay through the weekend.”

“Will it be for just yourself?”

“Myself and a guest.”

“I’ll book you in for tonight, with a notation you may stay longer. If you could let us know by noon we would appreciate it.”

“Absolutely.”

“I see you’ve stayed with us before so we already have your details, and of course, Continental is a valued customer. If there’s anything you need, please don’t hesitate to let me know. Please just sign the form.”

Zach scribbled his name on the check-in slip, and as he handed it back, the clerk gave him a card key.

“Thank you, Mr. Taylor, and I wish you a very pleasant stay.”

“Thank you, Brad,” Zach said, noting the name on the young man’s tag.

Returning to the lounge, Zach found Emma leaning back in her chair, her eyes closed, her head moving slightly in time to the piano. He instantly recognized the slow rendition of the 1980s hit by Foreigner,I Want to Know What Love Is. As he paused his step to watch her, he felt a tug in his heart, and waited until the song came to an end before joining her.

“Hey you,” he said sitting down.

“I love this place,” she said with a sigh. “I’m so glad you brought me here.”
