IT WAS ALREADY PAST9 p.m. and John was still in his office at Continental Studios. Even thoughThe Tea Cupwas back in production, last minute script revisions had needed his attention, then Terry Hardcastle called requesting an urgent meeting.

John had told Stella he’d be home for dinner, and would be bringing her a surprise. Reluctantly picking up the phone, he called and told her he couldn’t make it after all. She was sweet and understanding, which oddly, hadn’t helped his mood.

The truth was, he wanted her body not her cooking. He was horny, and while he could call Heidi for one of her girls, he wanted to enjoy his wife’s voluptuous curves. Irritated, he ordered a meal from the Executive Commissary, then sat at his desk and ate it while listening to Terry Hardcastle’s demands. What the director wanted would take the production even more over budget and John vehemently turned him down. Though Terry left in a huff, John didn’t care. Finally done for the day, he stretched his arms above his head, and was thinking maybe he should drive back to Malibu after all, when he heard a noise.

His pulse ticked up.

The executive suite was empty.

Stepping out of his office, he walked down the wide hall, his footsteps silent on the thick carpet. Glancing into each office as he passed, he reached the large room shared by several secretaries.

He grinned.

A woman was bending over and picking up a pen from the floor.

He stayed quiet, admiring her curvaceous backside.

As if sensing his stare, she straightened up and turned around.

She was attractive.

Veryattractive.

“Hi, Mr. Stanley. You’re here late.”

He had no idea who she was, but that wasn’t unexpected. The office staff knew all the executives, but very few executives were familiar with the many workers who were the cogs in the Continental Pictures machine.

“Hello, and you are?” he asked, moving towards her.

“Sue,” she replied with a smile. “Sue Jackson.”

“Nice to meet you, Sue, and you work for—?” he continued, noticing the top button of her shirt was undone revealing an impressive cleavage.

“I’m a floater.”

“Ah. I see.”

She seemed young for the job. Floaters moved from department to department as help was needed.

“Do you enjoy being a floater?”

“Sure. I get bored easily,” she replied, softening her voice and stepping closer.

He narrowed his eyes, trying to determine if she was giving him a signal. Though he knew seducing her at the office was probably a bad idea, they were alone. He could deny any allegations.

“Are you off to meet your boyfriend?” he asked, putting his toe in the water and giving her an out at the same time.

“No boyfriend—no husband,” she replied, titling her head to the side. “Just another night with my cat and television.”

“I have a fabulous dessert in my office. Care to join me.”

She hesitated.

He didn’t push, letting his unwavering gaze speak for him.

A few seconds ticked by.

“Sure. Why not? It’s been a long day. I could use a treat.”
