Page 41 of Fear is the Key

My cheeks heated at what he insinuated and thoughts of the shower on the cruise flooded my mind. Things got pretty hot and heavy, and I had no idea what would have happened if Luca hadn’t knocked on the door. In the moment, it felt so right. His skin pressed against mine. His lips all over me. My teeth racking over the smooth skin of his neck. I’d felt his desire for me, and even though in my normal state I wasn’t ready to go all the way, in those moments, it was what I wanted.

I didn’t trust myself with him, which did not mean I didn’t trust him. I just knew how lost we could get in each other.

“I’m joking.” Sky searched my face, and I looked away fearing he would see the want in my eyes.

“Come on.” I had to get out of this room, away from the bed, now. While I still had the willpower.

I got to the door before I realized he wasn’t following. There was a heated look in his eye that told me he was thinking about the same thing.

I cocked my head. “Sky?”

He blinked and met my eyes with a desire that matched mine. “Are you sure?”

I let out a laugh. “No, but I’m not going to test the patience of the other four tonight either.”

He groaned and stood. “Fine.”

The room went silent as we walked down the stairs. I took Sky’s hand and led him to where I’d been sitting, nodding at Gavin to get him to move.

“We good?” Vince asked tentatively.

“Yeah, we’re good,” Sky confirmed.

“So are we playing, or do you want to do something else?” Luca asked.

“We can watch the next movie,” Gavin offered with a teasing smile.

I narrowed my eyes at him. “Once I’m asleep, you can watch them all.”

He pouted. “You hated it?”

“No, I just don’t think it’s really my thing.”

“You’ll probably like the newer ones,” Noah suggested.

“Let’s play,” Sky spoke suddenly. “I’ll start.” He scanned the room before landing on Gavin, “Truth or dare?”

Gavin’s shoulders dropped an inch, but his disappointment didn’t last long. “Dare.”

“Scream the first word that comes to mind,” Sky ordered.

“Yoda!”

The room erupted with laughter.

Gavin shrugged. “Luca, truth or dare?”

“Dare.” Luca challenged.

“Pull out your wallet and show everything inside.” Gavin smirked.

I looked between them, trying to figure out why that would be worth wasting a dare. Luca glared at him with venom in his eyes and leaned to his side to pull his wallet out of his back pocket. Without looking away, he flipped it open then held it upside down with his thumbs keeping the main compartment from closing.

Several bills fell to the ground, including two hundreds. Then, something silver dropped. I stared down at the unopened condom wrapper then up to Luca’s face. His jaw was bulging from tension, and he looked like he wanted to jump across the table and strangle Gavin.

The others chuckled, but Gavin stayed quiet, glaring back at Luca.

My heart was thumping in my chest. Why did he have that? How did Gavin know, and why did he want to make sure I saw it?
