I tried. I really wanted to breathe. To feel normal, but my head was murky. It was too much.
He shook me again. “Hey! Focus on me.”
I forced my eyes to stare back at his. “Breathe with me.”
He waved toward his mouth then away, repeating the motions until I finally got a full breath in.
“Good, babe. Now again.”
He didn’t stop until the room expanded back into place, and I wasn't so warm. He was kneeling in front of me, holding my hands in his. “You okay?”
I nodded, embarrassed I had another panic attack in front of them.
