“And vampires are real, just not the way you think of them,” Luca added.

I blinked and turned to Daniel. “What does he mean?”

It wasn’t that I didn’t trust the guys, but I needed an adult I knew wouldn’t lie or hold back in telling me the full truth.

“Vampires are a species, like shapeshifters and witches and us. They’re born that way. They don’t turn humans by biting them like in books and movies. They don’t drink human blood, either. They do need to drink blood as a part of their normal diet, but they stick to animals.”

I sunk a bit into my chair. “So we’re going to a school with witches, shifters, and vampires. Anything else?”

Bruce stood and walked toward me. “There are other species, but they aren’t allowed at the school.”

“Like what?” I was done getting bits and pieces of information. I needed it all now, so I could process. I only had three weeks to adjust to the world I was about to be a part of.

“Demons, specifically.”

Right. Demons. “Like from Hell?”

Bruce twisted his gold watch around his wrist. “They come from another dimension, but some lore does mention that they dwelled in Hell before being released back on earth.”

“So, they’re evil?” I was impressed with how well I was containing my fear.

“Yes,” Daniel answered. “But you don’t have to worry about them. They are bound by laws, and there’s a group of supernaturals that work to keep them in line.”

“Supernatural police?” Why was my reality turning into a bad horror movie?

“Yeah, basically.”

“But there are also great supernaturals who work at the school who will be there to help and protect you all.” Tessa stood and came across the room. “Brownies and trolls and daimons.”

“I’ve always wanted to meet a troll,” Sky said behind me.

“What’s a daimon?” I wasn’t sure I wanted to know.

“They’re spirit guides, like guardian angles. Well, they were, but now they teach.” He answered.

This was too much, so I just nodded.

“And we’re sure that the kids will be safe there? Not only from the AS but from the other students?” John, Gwyn’s dad, asked.

“We’ve been given every assurance that they will be,” Tessa replied.

“So three weeks,” Gavin said quietly.

Tessa looked at him with a sad smile. “Yeah.”

“We all have got plenty to do,” Mandy said. “I’ll send out a list of items the kids will need as well as flight information. If you have any questions, reach out to me or Tessa.”

The adults dispersed, either leaving or talking to the others.

Tessa started to turn, but I jumped up and stopped her. “How am I supposed to tell my dad?”

Daniel looked between us. “We’ll help you.”

I rubbed my hands on my pants. “Not just about the school but about Juliet?”

They both nodded. “We’ll be there,” Tessa promised.

“He said he was coming home today, so we could go ring shopping.”
