“That would be great. Thank you.” I wasn’t ready to jump into life here yet, so I figured my guys would agree.

“If you need anything, let Nancy or one of us know.” The Alpha stood before pulling out Gloria’s chair and helping her up. My uncles followed them out, leaving us alone.

“Do you think they have a PlayStation we can use?” Theo smirked.

“They’ve got to have something.” Sai jumped out of his chair, running after Nancy.

I laughed and walked with Niall, as the rest of them debated what game to play first.

He took my hand and squeezed. “We’re going to be okay.”

I hadn’t realized how badly I needed to hear that. “I hope so.”

Chapter 4

“I’m not saying it’s the worst one, but it’s top three.” Sai leaned back with his arm stretched out across the back of the couch.

“I’ll give you top three only because we can all agree the newest one was by far the worst.” Kaden rubbed my shoulders while I sat on the floor in front of him.

I was barely paying attention to their conversation, too busy enjoying the peace we’d had for the past couple of days. No evil Council, no missing family members, no classes, no homework.

All we did was rest, hang out, and eat, which turned out to be exactly what the five of us needed. Time to come down from the stress and anxiety and simply be together.

There were no fights, no bickering, no storming out.

Just the occasional debate about the best action movie, comic book, or whatever they were talking about now.

I glanced over at Niall, still trying to convince myself this was real. He sat in one armchair with his legs handing over one side and a small smile on his lips, listening to Theo jump in.

I loved this. My heart was nearly ready to burst from happiness. Who’d have thought we could ever spend days on end in the same room and enjoy it?I hadn’t.

For the first time since learning about the bond, I saw how this was supposed to work. We could let our guards down and just be.

We slept together in the oversized bed, and I woke each morning with a sense of joy I’d never experienced before. My soul was finally content.

“Saige, which one is your favorite?” Niall asked.

What were they talking about? I’d let my bliss carry me away from the conversation. I hoped one of the guys might take mercy and give me a clue.

No luck.

“Um, what?”

They all laughed, and I didn’t even care if it was at my expense. My guys were getting along, and nothing made me happier.

“We should have a marathon, then she can pick,” Sai suggested.

“Yeah, that would only take a few days of non-stop movies,” Theo chuckled.

“What? Like we have anything else to do?” Kaden squeezed my shoulders.

“Fair point.” Theo leaned forward to pick up one of the remaining pastries from the breakfast tray brought up earlier.

A knock sounded, and my heart raced at the interruption. Sensing my alarm, Sai attempted a comforting smile. No one else usually came until lunch. No. No ruining our idyllic solitude. The world needed to stay away, at least for a few more days.

“I’ll get it.” Niall swung his legs to the floor and hopped up.

I stared out the large windows, hoping it was a messenger or someone bringing us fresh towels.
