I stared blankly at her, and she leaned against my desk.

“He was playing us, wasn’t he?”

“He found a way to work even less?” I cracked a smile. “Impressive.”

“I’ll deal with that later. Right now, we can find you more to do.” She tapped her ever-present tablet and began scrolling. “Well, that will be rather time-consuming.”

I wasn’t sure if she meant to say that out loud, but I jumped at the chance to have something real to do. “I can handle it.”

She glanced down at me, then her attention returned to the screen. “It would require additional permissions, but I guess you’ve already proven yourself. It hasn’t been updated in at least two years.”

She froze.

“Oh, but that would be quite helpful too.”

Something hadn’t been done in two years? That sounded like a project to hold my attention, and I really wanted to be helpful. I needed to be. If I couldn’t do much for my bond, I could at least benefit the pack.

“I can do both, more even. I promise I’m used to a very heavy workload,” I said, not convincing her, so I pressed. “Really, you would be doing me a favor. When my mind is idle, I go stir crazy.”

She smiled. “I understand that feeling very well. If you’re sure you don’t mind having more to do.”

“I would very much enjoy it.”

“Thank you.” She waved me out of the way before leaning over my keyboard and pulling up various programs and entering passwords. “You should have everything you need, but if you run into any problems, let me know.”

I waited for her to explain, but she turned to walk away.

“Nancy?”

She spun around with raised brows.

“It may help if I know what I’m supposed to do.”

“Oh, Niall! Idoneed your help, don’t I?”

I smiled. She threw her free hand in the air before coming back and pointing at different programs.

“This is where we store all the pack’s information. It’s like our census, but it’s been a couple of years since it’s been updated. Here is where the most current information is. I need you to go through and cross check and adjust the information as necessary.”

That seemed easy enough, so I nodded.

“And this is the pack’s site. I made you a moderator as I would like you to review the message boards and comments. We don’t allow profanity, so you’ll need to remove any of that content and keep an eye on things. If there’s a complaint or topic that the elders or Alpha should review, send them the link.”

“I can do that.”

She beamed. “I know. Thank you for being honest and willing to step up. I appreciate it very much.”

After she left, I looked over the pack site, familiarizing myself with each page and reading each word, soaking in the information with a sense of relief as I settled back into my comfort zone. Learning about our new home and having access to answers was the best feeling in the world.

The top banner reminded everyone of the upcoming winter solstice party and provided a link to submit a wish list to the Alpha. This was what Saige mentioned working on.

The site had several more forms available: a maintenance request for private residences, a separate one for a business or common building, and an anonymous submission to suggest new services. I read details about the school and its various activities and found a login to see student’s accounts. I didn’t have access to that, so I moved on to the pack message board.

The first several posts varied but were all non-emergency questions or concerns. Recipe recommendations, a lost pet lizard, and a reminder not to leave any vehicles parked on the street so the pack’s one snowplow could get through without obstacles.

Boring and nothing in need of removing as far back as three months. I’d continue working my way back, but that seemed enough for today.

I switched over to the program with all the information about the pack and began scrolling. Nancy was right. This was a huge project, but the challenge was exciting rather than daunting. This was just the kind of thing I enjoyed. The information, when updated, would be helpful to everyone in the main office, school, shops, especially the Alpha and elders.
