“Thank you.”

The corners of his lips tugged up.

“I love you.”

A full grin appeared, and he slid one hand up to the back of my neck. Holding me there, he lowered his full lips to mine.

My hands explored his soapy chest, stroking along his arms and over his pecs. He pulled away, eyes immediately locking on mine. “I love you too.”

He held me as if I was something so precious, and the fire in his eyes made me move.

I slid my hands down, keeping my gaze on his.I reached his belly button and continued. The fire in me burst into an inferno.

This was new territory for us. I never touched him like this, but my body took action before my brain could overthink instead of feeling this moment.

I wanted to be closer to him. Touch him. Make him feel as adored as he made me feel.

“Baby.” His voice was tight.

I froze.

“What are you doing?” he gasped.

Oh, no. Was I doing something wrong? Already? How was that even possible? I hadn’t even touched him yet. Did he not want me to?

“Hey, come back to me.”

I blinked and pushed away the millions of doubts. “I want to––”

How could I do this if I couldn’t even say the words?

Touch you.

There. That was easier.

A small smile appeared on his lips. “You are touching me.”

I looked down at my hands pressed against his lower stomach. So close. So close to . . .

I sucked in a breath as I dropped my arms and finally took him in,all of him.

I swallowed.

“Saige?” he whispered, pushing my hair away from my face, and I dragged my eyes up his body and back to his. “You okay?”

I started to nod before realizing it, stopped, and shook my head.

“Talk to me.”

Did I have to?

Why did he interrupt me? I was going strong. I wasn’t overthinking, just acting.

He stopped me, and then I saw, and now I was freaking out a bit.

“I . . .” Nothing. No words. Mush brain.

It was different than I expected. I had an idea. I’d seen pictures. In health textbooks.
