He groaned, and I smiled. I wasn’t sure what felt so good to him, and I was grateful he was letting me explore. I wrapped my fingers around the base and slowly pushed toward the tip.

Fuck.

That feels good?

Yeah.

Even in my head, he sounded breathless. I dragged my hand back to the base, moving back and forth, pumping him.

His body moved with me, and he shot his hands out, bracing himself on the wall.

The echoes of his moans mixed with the rush of the water, and I continued my pace, waiting for him to tell me if I should change anything.

I’m so close.

I remembered what Niall said to me and knew it would drive Kaden crazy.

Come for me, baby.

He groaned and dropped his head forward as his body spasmed, and he found his release. I watched in wonder as pride filled me. I did that.

Kaden wrapped his arms around me, pulling us together until our bodies aligned. “That was amazing.”

He kissed the top of my head, leaning some of his weight on me, and I kissed his chest.

I’d never felt soclose to my guys, while also feeling so worried. The past twelve hours were a rollercoaster. I needed to get control over my shifting before I seriously hurt any of them.

I hoped that could start today, with Serene, but she was hardly sympathetic when I explained I had a rough night and was tired.

She eyed me up and down before shrugging and heading down the path behind her cottage. I followed along dutifully through the snow. Our journey got more awkward the longer we went without speaking, but finally, she stopped, put her hand on a tree, and looked over her shoulder at me.

“This is where we're working today.”

“Okay.” I walked up to her and put my hands on the same trunk, feeling nothing from it. I recognize this. “This tree is sick.”

She nodded but didn't praise me for knowing. “Fire damaged this whole area a few years ago, and it never recovered. The Alpha and elders are worried the soil closest to the compound is being overworked. They would like to venture out further here. But in order to do that, this area needs to be restored.”

“I can do that,” I said confidently. “I was working on healing a grove at the Academy before we came.”

I expected her to be surprised or maybe impressed, but she just moved on to the next tree.

“Good. Then you already know what to do.”

Without further instruction, she placed her hand on her tree for a few moments before moving on to the next.

“Will this work in the winter? Helping the soil?” I clarified.

She let out an exasperated sigh. “We're going to do it now so they can plant in the spring. We might not see whether it worked until then. This area might be too damaged, but we can at least try, and then bring in extra nutrients if needed after the melt.”

She was off today, but I wasn't sure why. She didn't seem in the in the mood to talk about it. So, we worked silently together, moving around the area, healing each tree that needed it. Then I noticed her bending down and digging through the snow before putting her bare hand on the frozen ground.

“I need you to help me,” she said finally.

I knelt next to her, clearing an extra bit of space for my hand before closing my eyes and focusing on listening to what the soil needed. I waited for the earth to speak to me. A gentle whisper, hinting at what it needed most. I felt the enormity, the desperation. This land was so close to death. I wasn't sure we could bring it back.

Serene sighed, and I opened my eyes when she moved.

“It's going to take more than what you can do right now,” she said.
