Faith hadn’t known that either. Finding her phone, she searched Ryan’s name. There it was.Talon’s guitarist in a fight. Ryan Lawrence out of control. On and on it went. Faith felt sick.

“I talked to him about it; he’s not worried. Told me he just needs to cut a fingernail, and someone says he’s taken off a finger,” Annabelle said.

“You Texans need to make more of an effort to work out,” Newman said from his position on the grass where he was lying on his back. “And Ryan’s cool. He told me yesterday he’d spoken to his PR dude and agent, so all good.”

“Must be really annoying, your life being out there for everyone to feast on,” Brad added.

“Ethan found some fat around his middle yesterday. He’s fasting,” Annabelle said.

“So no more pies for you then. I can’t be seen with someone who has fat rolls,” Buster heckled.

“I have no fat rolls and am in supreme physical condition to raise my children,” Tex said.

“Children?” Annabelle asked.

“Now, honey, we’ve talked about this. We’re having ten.”

She punched him in his washboard abs. He grabbed her, and they were soon wrestling.

“How’s Hope doing today?” Faith asked Newman.

“She’s on the bleachers with Branna and Rose eating a hotdog. She and Ryan went a few rounds over their father a few days ago, but she’s better today.”

“I hope he didn’t upset her?” Faith searched for her friend. Hands waved, and she waved back. Branna had Rose on her lap. Willow was also there with Emily.

“Where’s Christie?” She looked at Annabelle.

“Macy and Billy have her. She’ll be bribing them for sugar.”

“Tell them,” Tex said.

“Tell them what?” Noah asked, looking at Brad, who had received an elbow in the ribs from his brother.

“We’re having a baby.” His grin was so wide it was dazzling.

“Jesus, I think you just blinded me,” Jake said, moving in to hug Brad. “I’m really happy for you and Macy, bud.”

“More babies.” Lucy sighed.

“You need to have one so I can be an aunty,” Faith said.

“Working on it.” Noah laughed as Lucy blushed.

Faith didn’t know if she’d have children. Didn’t know if she’d ever find a man who meant so much to her she’d want to commit to a life together. Yes, she’d been hurt a few times, and those scars were etched deep, but the right man may make her see he was worth it. No man so far had come close.

“I’m going now before you totally humiliate me.” Lucy kissed her man and then hugged everyone else, wishing them luck.

“She’s certainly getting into this,” Faith said, watching Lucy jog away.

Noah was watching too. “I think when you lived for so long like she did, you want to make the most of every day.”

Faith leaned on her brother. “I’m glad that life is over for her now and we have her.”

“Me too.” He kissed her forehead.

“If I have to be here, I at least should have a shirt.”

Ryan had snuck up on them.
