“Joe is on the council, and it was him that got it over the line. The local kids love it, and Bailey, his wife, she gives music lessons in there. We have Yoga, basketball and other stuff.”

“I go to dance lessons there, Quinn.”

“Let me guess, you wear a pink outfit?” She looked at Grace.

Her reply was a smile.

“She’s a great kid, Piper.”

“She is. The best. Stubborn, and sneaky, and I love her so much. She and Nixon have got close quick.”

Quinn had always been career focused, and maybe because her mom was so insistent about grandchildren she’d been put off the whole idea of kids, but if she had one like the Trainer/Howard kids she’d met, maybe she’d do it. Commit to a man and a life together.

“We’re watching a spooky movie tonight. Mayor Gripper is putting up the big screen again today,” Grace said as they parked. “We get to eat popcorn and sit on blankets.”

“And she’ll last five minutes,” Piper whispered.

Quinn thought it would be nice to have a family. Not her mom and dad, but one that was hers alone. Strange how she’d never felt that way before. She blamed him, of course. Luke Trainer had slipped inside her and started her thinking about things she couldn’t have with him, which was reason enough to make sure she wasn’t alone with him anymore.
