“Fine, fine.” he finally said. “But when he comes after us both, you better take the bullet for me.”

“Noted,” I breathed, feeling like the tide was turning for the first time. “And thank you.”

“Don’t thank me yet, Leda.” Emil said as he pulled out his phone. “Let’s get this over with.”
