Though it cost me, I didn’t drive up into her. I made her work for every bit of what she got. She rode me unsteadily, her frustration mounting as her lips pursed. She was so wet, and she could use me however she wanted. It still wasn’t enough.

To get where she wanted to go, it would take both of us. And she knew it.

Her walls tightened around me the faster and harder she bucked against me, but she wasn’t getting there. Couldn’t.

Not on her own.

“Maverick,” she begged finally, her wrecked blue eyes meeting mine.

Resisting her was beyond me.

“Uncuff me.”

She scrambled up to grab the key she’d hid under the pillow. As soon as I was free, I grabbed her in my arms and rolled her beneath me, pressing my forehead to hers as I drove into her as if my life depended on it.

She bit off her scream, straining up to take my mouth in a brutal kiss as I finally thrust into her up to the hilt. Without holding back, without being afraid I’d hurt her. I knew she could take it—and me.

Knew she needed to just as I needed her.

Her hands raced up my back as I shifted to tuck her against me. She was so much smaller than me, but we’d been together so much already that adjusting for the differences in our heights didn’t require thought.

Eyes locked, I didn’t stop stroking into her, sweat dripping into my eyes, the true blue of her eyes my center. Her pupils overtaking the blue as I drove into her just right to make her legs shake. Her pussy squeezed around me and she kissed me hard, her fingers twisting into my hair.

I reached the end of the line inside her, drawing back and sinking home one last time. Her name was on my tongue as I drained myself into the condom, hoping like hell she was with me.

Not knowing if the wetness on her cheeks was hers or mine—or if it was sweat or tears.

Maybe both.

I pressed my lips to her forehead and then her lips, drawing in her air as if it could fill my lungs. She framed my face in her hands, coiling her legs around me so tightly I couldn’t have left her if I wanted to.

And I didn’t.

“I didn’t know what you said before I slept, but now I do,” she whispered. “I remembered.”

I covered her mouth with my own so she didn’t say it aloud. We already knew I wouldn’t be the one who wanted to leave.

I wasn’t the one who lived in a house on wheels.

SEVENTEEN

I started throwingup the morning of Tab’s bachelorette party.

It had been moved two full weeks later than Brady and Tab had wanted after their scare. Turned out it was really hard to plan a wedding and all the assorted events that went with it when everyone had left most of the details to the last minute.

Not even just me and Mav, but the bride and groom too. They’d both stuck their heads in the sand about all the details, and surprise, surprise, there were many of them. I took on as much as I could, but I was still opening up the bakery in the early morning to take some of the pressure off Tab, who was now the size of the Titanic. Or so it seemed to me, since I’d been a size six since high school.

Not anymore.

Oh, the size difference wasn’t much. Anyone else would’ve said I was imagining things. Of course, I had to be, right? It was far too early. I’d been pregnant before, but not for long. What did I know?

Except I’d known the night of Tab’s wedding shower, and that definitely was way too soon according to any doctor’s chart.

“We don’t need to do this,” Tab said as she fussed with her hair in the mirror in the bakery’s bathroom. “I’m the size of a house. What do I want to see strippers for?”

I had to laugh even though I was leaning against the sink at her side so I didn’t fall over. Along with my morning sickness, I was also now so tired that I’d nearly fallen over face first into the croissant dough I was rolling. Twice.

Now I was supposed to laugh and have a grand time at my sister’s bachelorette party even though I had a damn good suspicion I was going to need a baby shower of my own in the not too distant future.
