She’d chosen an A-line dress for the big day. It showed off her bountiful boobs—I hated her a little—and gently flowed around her belly. Her hair was all curls and sparkles with the tinsel-like extensions Ellie had put in her hair to make her glow even more.

Her train and veil were embroidered with tiny flowers and strawberries from yours truly. I’d asked AJ to help me with the project, and we’d knocked it out with a coffee and bitchfest one of the nights Maverick had to work.

I’d needed to add a tiny piece of me to my twin sister’s day.

I’d spent far too much time away from her, but I was glad to be home. The wheels on my bus weren’t rolling anymore. My roots were firmly growing here.

In fact, I spent more time in Maverick’s house these days than my own mini-house.

Couldn’t he see that I was getting used to the idea of staying put? Why did people always need words when actions said plenty?

So says the woman who constantly questions both his actions and his words.

And I was not getting mired in that mess right now. Today was for my sister.

I joined the line up at the back door for the processional down the flower-strewn aisle. I would be last out the door before the bride, which gave me a few extra seconds to adjust her veil one last time.

She smiled at me, her eyes suspiciously shiny already.

“Don’t you start. If you cry, then I’m going to cry, then we’ll both screw up our makeup. And Paisley scares me.”

Tab gave me a watery laugh. “No one scares you.”

She was so very wrong on that one.“Shedoes.”

Both of us glanced over to Honey who was slapping away the brush Paisley kept trying to use to powder her face. My future sister-in-law was not one for getting fussed over.

Not that I was either, but I didn’t mind a primp here and there. Especially since Mav had definitely been into the end result. Not that it mattered what he thought of my makeup and dress.

Okay, so it shouldn’t, but it so did.

And I’d never felt more beautiful than when he came down the stairs and caught sight of me. What would it be like to be wearing a dress like my sister? To have all the butterflies that I could feel going on in my sister’s belly?

The twin powers were super activated today. At least that was what I told myself.

I clutched my sister’s hand as the music cued up. “You’re beautiful, and I can’t wait to see your face when you get a load of what they did for you guys out there.”

She fanned her face with her other hand. “Do not get me going.”

“Oh, who am I kidding? You’re only going to see Brady.”

Her eyes filled. “Yeah.”

“I’m so happy for you, Tabby cat.”

“Okay, you can stop now.” Her voice was thick with emotion.

I cleared my throat. “Okay, okay. I’m done.” I could hear my future mother-in-law barking orders.

Wait. Not mine. Tab’s mother-in-law.

Yours. You know you want it to be yours too.

I ignored the little voice that was getting louder every day. It was just the wedding fairy dust sprinkled everywhere. It made people crazy. It was obviously having the same effect on me.

“You’re up, Vanessa.”

I followed Honey as we got closer to the door.
