I focused on his sharper tone and forced myself to slow down my brain and my heart rate. I couldn’t spit out words, my attention still on my sister. She was rubbing her belly, but she was forever doing that.

“I have a feeling Tab is going to go into labor. I think. Maybe.”

He leaned down closer to me, his breath on my ear. “Twin thing?” His hand slid over to my belly. “You sure?”

I pushed it away when all I wanted to do was hold on. “I’m not sure of anything.”

He sighed and drew me back to one of the tables as the music from the DJ grew louder to signal first dances were commencing.

“Ladies and gentlemen, I’d like to officially introduce Mr. & Mrs. McNeill to the party!”

Claps and catcalls filled the tent. Tabitha’s smile was wide, and the sound of her laughter soothed me. She was clutching Brady’s hand, but other than that, she seemed like her usual self.

Maybe I was imagining it.

Brady whispered something in her ear, and she flushed before he drew her gently into his arms. I could barely hear a note of the song. My head was full of fuzz and my spine felt hot under my skin.

Tab tripped, and one of her Crocs came off. Brady bent to get it, and she let out a startled yelp. Just before she could go down, Brady swooped her up into his arms.

“Strawberry?”

The attendees surged forward.

I tried to push my way through the mass of people. There were far too many emergency personnel in attendance, and they all instinctively shot into action.

I was too damn short.

“Mav!”

He lifted me like a damn football and pushed through the people.

Austin and Adam had circled the crowd and met each other behind Brady and Tab.

“Not the time, kid!” my sister yelled.

“Don’t think the kid much cares, ma’am,” Austin said as he gently helped to get Tab back on her feet.

Lucky and Tish cleared a table and grabbed the tablecloth. Lucky rushed over and the cream tablecloth hit the ground just before Tabitha.

Tabitha grabbed for Brady who was right behind her, bolstering her. My sister arched her back, and a quick screech had my heart thundering harder between my ears.

“Gotcha. Here’s Van.” Mav tugged me along and we pushed past my shocked parents, going to either side of them.

“Thank God.” Tab clutched my hand. “Oh, I don’t want to do this here.”

“Not sure we have a choice.” I sniffled and rubbed her lower back.

“I think we can still get to the hospital. This is your first baby, right?” Austin knelt beside her, his gaze fixated on his watch. “You have a little—”

Tab shrieked again.

“Okay, maybe not.” Austin slid a look at Brady. “Your wedding day and your baby’s birthday look like they’re going to be the same day.”

Brady slipped an arm around my sister’s shoulders. “I don’t care. As long as the baby is okay.”

“All right then.” He twisted around and seemed to spot someone in the crowd. “Burke. You’re up!”

Finally, I looked away from my sister. “Who is Burke?”
