When I was younger, I guess it felt like some kind of punishment for Abby’s mom and me never working out.

But with Jen, everything’s different.

We just click, and once I see Jen’s expression shift from nostalgia to the future, she smiles and rests a hand on her belly.

“I guess it’s the one thing I’ve always wanted,” she says so quietly that I’m not sure if she means it for my ears.

Meeting my gaze, her eyes shine as she sighs.

“I never went to college, don’t have any real skill sets, but I always wanted a family yet never thought…,” she breaks off.

“Never thought what?” I ask. “You’d make a great mom. The best,” I affirm, making her giggle.

“I guess I just never thought I’d find the right man,” she says tenderly, making me look down with a flush of modesty.

Hearing her say that. The way she says it.

It’s the world's greatest feeling because I feel the same way about her.

“And I never thought in my wildest dreams that I’d find the right girl… woman,” I correct myself, making Jen flush a little herself.

Not a virgin anymore. And all mine.

We sit in silence for a while until Jen exclaims, “Listen to us! We sound like an old married couple or something.”

I hum a low sound. Enjoying hearing her say it that way.

“That such a bad thing?” I ask her, cocking my brow, reminding her that I still have a few good years left in me.

More than a few good years. I’m in my prime and every second with Jen reminds me of it.

She shivers on the spot, and I let my eyes move down to her ample chest and stiff nipples from the cooler air inside and already making me like my favorite T-shirt even more.

It’s hers now, and a dozen like it if she wears nothing but that every time we’re alone.

“I did promise to take you right here on the table after dinner,” I muse aloud, tracing a finger across the crisp white linen tablecloth.

Studying the empty plates and glassware.

Reminding myself I’ll have to clean it up, having given the maid the rest of this week off.

No more disturbances being my reasoning after Jen’s mom just showed up.

I study Jen’s face, chuckling before I share what I’m thinking.

“Is that something an old married couple would do?” I ask her. Noting that it sounds more like a challenge than a question.

“And risk something breaking?” Jen retorts. “I’d hate to see anything ruined on my account. It all looks so…beautiful,” she sighs.

Marveling again at the layout. Jen lets her eyes move away from the table and around the room with its high ceiling before she settles her dreamy look on me again.

“You could only make it look better,” I remark, feeling my need for her growing as I shift in my seat, telling her to come over to me.

She swallows hard, and her blushing cheeks and bright eyes that darken with her arousal tell me she’s been waiting for me to make our next move.

“I’m not exactly dressed for after-dinner entertainment,” she murmurs, sucking in air sharply and gently moaning when I take her and set her down in my lap.

My own suggestion for what we should do after dinner pressed into the small of her back, making her purr before I kiss her in a way that couldn’t mean I want anything else.
