Ben was Ben Bradford, billionaire tech maven and all-around nice guy.

He and Rafe were friends—mostly because Rafe had designed every campus for Ben’s business, from the first small complex to the large multi-block buildings the tech company now utilized.

Since Rafe was his best friend and Cora was his sister, he’d go to the dinner, even if it had stupid quarter-sized courses that meant he’d have to hit up In-N-Out afterward, but he’d met Ben before and he was a good guy, so maybe there was hope.

“No clue,” Cora said. “All I know is that it’s black tie and we need even numbers.”

Christ.

It was worse than he’d first thought.

Not just a suit, but a tux.

He groaned. “You’ll owe me.”

“You just said you’d do anything for me.”

“I changed my mind.”

A huff. “Some brother you are.”

“When is this party?”

“Friday.”

He sighed. “The Gold are playing Friday.”

“Is this where I remind you that you said you’d do anything for me?” she asked sweetly.

“No,” he muttered.

“Good.” He could practically see her beatific smile. “Then I’ll see you Friday.”

“I still say you’ll owe—”

She hung up before he could finish the statement.

Which was just as well, considering he didn’t mean it anyway.

“But I hate dressing up.”

“Liar,” Rafe teased, tugging at her ponytail. “You don’t mind getting dressed up, and I happen to know that you and Cora already bought a new dress and shoes.”

“You know what’s annoying?” she asked, brushing him off and focusing on the punch list on her clipboard.

“Besides me, my personality, and me again?” Rafe asked lightly.

She sniffed. “Yes.”

“Then no,” he said. “What’s annoying?”

“You.” A beat as he huffed out laughter. “And also that you’re dating my friend, who then reveals all my secrets.”

“I knew all your secrets before,” he said, waving a dismissive hand.
