Just her and him and his tongue sliding into her mouth, his hands on her body, molding her to him.

Just her and him and—

“Oh!”

Gasping, she jerked away from Jeremy, leaned to the side…and saw Melody had walked into the kitchen.

Melody, who was perfect for him.

Melody, who’d gone on a date with him.

Twenty-One

Jeremy

“Shit,” he muttered, stepping back from the lush temptation of Teresa’s body, turning in time to see Melody disappearing down the hall.

“I—”

Teresa bit her lip, shook her head.

Then gave him a light shove. “Go,” she ordered softly. “Go talk to her.”

He didn’t want to leave Teresa, but he hadn’t missed the glimmer of hurt on Melody’s face. They weren’t dating, and she knew about his feelings for Teresa.

“Go,” Teresa ordered, spinning away from him, disappearing into the garage before he could get out another word.

He took a step in her direction, but then he heard footsteps in the hall, heard Mel call her goodbyes, and he moved to head her off.

One fire at a time.

“Hey,” he said gently as she shrugged into her coat.

Yeah.

Right there.

That was hurt in her eyes.

Fuck.
