“Women aren’t for leading men,” he says, his gaze raking over my face and down to my cleavage in a blatant show. “They’re for something else altogether.”

And then he reaches out, one hand grasping my hip, and he pulls me flush against him.

His other hand buries itself in my hair, pulling my head back, and a dozen sensations assail me all at once as his mouth crashes down onto mine. He’s hard as a rock where his hips meet mine, his considerable bulge grinding against me as his tongue forces its way into my mouth as if our banter turned him on. His mouth is hot, demanding, prying mine open. For a second, I let him because his kiss makes me feel as if I’m on fire from the top of my head to the tips of my toes, pleasure bursting out across my skin in a way that I never imagined was possible.

Fuck.I feel as if I could combust here and now, and Iwanthim. For the first time in my life, I know what it feels like to really want to lose my virginity, to let Connor throw me onto the bed and strip it away from me as I scream out my pleasure around his fingers, his mouth, his cock. I want him as viscerally as I’ve ever wanted anything, and I know just how dangerous that is because if I want him, I won’t be the one in control of this.

Icannotsurrender control to Connor McGregor.

It takes every ounce of self-control I have and a not small amount of physical strength as well, but I shove him back with both hands, sucking in a breath as I pull free of his grasp and back away.

“You can say all of it’s meaningless to you,” I manage breathlessly. “You can say you don’t want the Kings, or a wife, or any of the things you were meant to have as your father’s son, only the life you’ve built with your own two hands—but tell me this, Connor. Is your brother’s life meaningless to you, too?”

I see his jaw clench at the same time his fists do, anger visibly rippling through him as he stares me down. “Liam is my younger brother,” he grinds out. “Of course, it’s not meaningless. It’s the only fucking reason I’m still standing in this room, having this conversation with you.”

Slowly, pointedly, I let my eyes flick down to the obvious erection straining against his fly and then back up to his face. “The only reason?”

“Oh, bloody hell!” Connor curses aloud, running a hand through his hair as he turns away. “Tell your father I need a night to think,” he snaps, snatching up his keys from the top of the dresser.

This time, as he strides angrily towards the door, he doesn’t look back—and I don’t try to stop him.
