“Farrell hasn’t,” Jenna finallyconfessed.

Angel waved away the comment. “He’s a man, Jenna. He’s probably too preoccupied with your rack to wonder about the why ofit.”

Jenna laughed. “Probably.”

They reached the entrance to the market, and Angel paused. “Before we continue this conversation — and we will continue it — is there anything else you need? Any other stops you’d like to make while we’re in thecity?”

“Not right now,” Jennasaid.

Angel nodded. “Then let’s get home. Christophe and Charlotte should be arrivingsoon.”

The driver was standing by the car when theyapproached.

Like all of Nico’s men, he was dressed in a tailored suit. It was a contrast to Farrell’s guards, who were almost always outfitted with tactical gear, ready to do battle with enemies they didn’t even know theyhad.

Just likeFarrell.

Angel spoke easily with the driver and handed over their packages. It was obvious the guards adored her and equally obvious Angel was completely comfortable having them around all thetime.

They got settled in the backseat while the driver put their packages in the trunk. Then they pulled away from the curb, making their way through the busycity.

Jenna watched through the window as people hurried over the sidewalks, wondering how many of them had secrets like hers, how many had worries and fears that weren’t apparent on theirfaces.

“So?” Angelsaid.

Jenna sighed. “So, I’m going to tell him. I just… haven’t found the righttime.”

Angel looked confused. “Isn’t every time the right time for news like this? I can hardly hold it inmyself!”

Her face was bright with excitement, her cheeks flushed. Jenna could see why Nico had fallen so hard for Angel, why he’d riskedeverything.

Why he’d sacrificedeverything.

She was a study in contrasts, somehow both exuberant and calm, a classic beauty with an undercurrent ofsensuality.

“I don’t want to overwhelm him,” Jennasaid.

Now Angel really looked confused. “OverwhelmFarrell?”

Jenna nodded. “It’s a lot to takein.”

Angel looked skeptical. “A lot of wonderfulness.” She hesitated, then looked more closely at Jenna. “Am I missing something? Because the Farrell Black I know — and I know I don’t know him as well as you do — isn’t easilyoverwhelmed.”

Jenna chewed her lower lip. “That’s the thing — I don’t think this whole… domestic bliss thing is something Farrell planned for. With Lily it’s still fun, you know? It can still be sexy and a little loose. Add in another child and it’s suddenly… pedestrian. Isn’tit?”

Angel laughed. “Well, it’s all pedestrian when a little person has the flu and pukes on your lap or when a baby’s crying in the middle of the night, but I suppose I see what youmean.”

“That’s the other thing,” Jenna said. “Farrell missed all the baby stuff. Lily was a little person by the time he was back in the picture. He could talk to her, have fun with her. She could put on her own shoes, feedherself.”

Angel studied her. “Are you saying you don’t think he’ll behappy?”

Jenna drew in a breath and turned her face to the window. “I think he’ll pretend to be happy even if he’s not. Which means I’ll never reallyknow.”

“Jenna…” She felt Angel’s hand on her arm and turned to look at her. “Really? You’llknow. We’ll all know, because he’ll be over the moon. I can’t believe you don’t knowthat.”

Jenna could see that Angel believed it. She just wished she could believe it,too.
