“I don’t think you can handle me, big boy,” I reply with a wink. He laughs, a deep sound, and opens the door for me.

“One day I’ll convince you.”

“Until then,” I tell him with a salute.

Killian isn’t visible at the bar and I make my way straight to the back to get ready. I’m a bit early, but not too much to arouse suspicion. Just enough that, hopefully, there won’t be many people around back yet.

I hold my breath as I turn the corner and push open the door to the change area, only releasing it when I find it empty. My mouth curves up into a smile and I stroll in, bee-lining straight for the locker I know Peter uses. My hand reaches into my purse just before the door behind me opens.

I freeze only for a split second before turning to see Tanner walk in.

He stops, a frown on his face. I smile, but my face feels hot.

“What are you doing?”

“Just came a bit early to organize my locker,” I lie with a smile, sure he’ll never buy it. He takes a step toward me, grabbing my wrist, which is still in my purse. I drop the baggie and let him pull it out, pressing me back to the locker.

“Early gonna cost you,” he says, his eyes trailing up and down my body. I smile even though I want to vomit.

“Fuck, she fucking puked on me!” Tanner exclaims. Something strikes my face a moment later, but other than making my head jolt to the side, it doesn’t really register. The smell of vomit is somehow almost pleasant in this state, covering the scents of blood and sweat.

“Hose her off, we’ll finish this tomorrow,” Neil replies.

I scream when the cold spray hits my body, puking as soon as the assault stops.

“Dumb cunt,” someone says and the hose turns on again.

This time, I blissfully pass out.

I put a hand out to his chest to ground myself, doing all I can to keep my expression from showing the panic steadily rising. You can do this, I tell myself. You’ve seduced disgusting old men and made them believe you were into it. If you can do that, you can do this.

Swallowing the bile, I open my mouth to respond and that’s right then Killian walks into the room with a keg in his arms. He freezes, and I see the litany of emotion crossing his face. His eyes meet mine, a warning within. I watch his jaw clench and I see the tendons on his arm tighten. Turning to Tanner, I push back on his chest.

“Looks like our spot got discovered, sweet thang,” I tell him with a wink, stepping away.

I wonder if my face is as pale as it feels. I grab my purse and walk past Killian. He glances my way only briefly, rage and jealousy evident in his eyes. I narrow my eyes at him and keep walking even as I hear Tanner say, “Aw, man, what the fuck!”

My purse clenched tightly in my hand, I do a loop of the club before I make my way back to the now empty locker room. Pressing my back to the door, I close my eyes and let out a deep breath before I open my eyes to look around. Taking the opportunity while I can, I quickly pop the small baggie through the slot in the locker before going to my own.

That was all close, but it’s done.

Now to wait for the druggie to find his present.

I can’t concentrate for the rest of the night and even though I know it probably shows by my performance, I’m still surprised when Dee pulls me aside part way through the night. The lines on her face look deeper than usual, her makeup not as evenly applied.

“What's going on with you tonight? Is this about that bullshit you pulled yesterday?” she asks. I shake my head and open my mouth to tell her I’m fine, but she interrupts before I can.

“I don’t know what it is, but get your head on straight. You’re lucky you didn’t get fired for that bullshit. As it is, Neil is away, but he’ll be wanting to talk to you when he’s back. Wash up and head home for the night,” she continues.

I start to object, but she holds up a hand.

“Nope, don’t want to hear it. Come back tomorrow with your head on right. We all have our days, but you can’t have it here.”

I head for the showers and do an extra glance around, but with Savannah out with a broken nose and bruised face, I don’t expect the other girls will give me much trouble. I’m a bit worried about what Neil will say, but remind myself that stripper cattiness isn’t so unusual. Besides, shedidstart it.

Nothing I can do about it now, anyway. I could use a good night's sleep.

I turn on the water to maximum heat and close my eyes, letting the water wash over me. My mind wanders as I scrub the paint from my skin. It’ll probably be a few hours before Peter finds that baggie, but it could be sooner.
