"I hope you two are very happy with each other," I say bitterly, hearing Phoebe beep in the driveway. "Can't imagine two people moredeservingfor each other."

Chapter twenty-eight

"Okay, areyouready?"Phoebe calls from the dressing room.

I'm sitting on the boutique's lounge with Phoebe's sister, Amanda and her other friend, Nicole.

This is the first dress Phoebe has tried on, and surprisingly, I'm all for the girly bridal experience. The bridal assistant has given us flutes of champagne and we're having a great time, laughing and talking about the wedding plans.

"Yes!" yells Amanda, bouncing in her seat. She has the same eyes and red colored hair as Phoebe, except from memory, Amanda is two years older. Nicole is her childhood friend, a curvy brunette girl our age with ringlets and large brown eyes. We're all excited as we wait for Phoebe to emerge.

"Here I am," she says, stepping out from behind the curtain.

My mouth drops as I take in Phoebe, a vision of ivory and lace. The dress is strapless, tulle and flows out like a ballgown. Amanda and Nicole squeal while I stare at her stunned.

"Shit, babe. You look beautiful," I say as she spins.

"I feel like a princess," she grins.

Amanda wipes away some tears. "My baby sis is getting married. You look perfect. Do you like it?"

Phoebe nods, her hands lifting the delicate material. "I love it. I'm actually thinking this is the one."

The bridal assistant explains the dress to us, and runs Phoebe through some bridesmaid dresses which would compliment it. Their color theme is royal blue and soon enough, I'm squeezing into a strapless dress in that shade. The top half of the dress is tight against my torso, while the bottom flows down straight to the ground in soft waves.

When the three of us are ready, we walk out to show Phoebe who gets teary eyed.

"Oh, my gosh. You guys look amazing," she mutters, standing so the four of us can position ourselves in front of the mirror to compare.

Phoebe's natural easy going personality shines through as she grins at the bridal assistant.

"This is it. These are the dresses!"

The assistant laughs. "You have to be the most easy going bride I've ever met. I don't think we've had anyone pick all their dresses after only one try."

Amanda wraps her arm around Phoebe. "That's my baby sis, for you. The perfect bride… and soon to be wife. Just what we all dream of."

I can't help but agree, smiling at Phoebe as she glows. It's the picture perfect moment that we all dream about. Even when it seems out of our reach.

Several glasses of champagne later, I walk into the house, a smile still on my face. The wedding is still six months away, but I can't wait. Phoebe and Connor are two of my best friends, and I am so honored to be a part of their big day.

Before I can head to the stairs, I'm intercepted by Blake.

"Meeting in the basement," he says with a bored expression. Gosh, it's like if he smiles, his face will crack.

I roll my eyes. "A meeting? How business-like," I respond, moving around him to head to the basement.

When I get down there, Asher and Zayn are already seated waiting. They aren't speaking, and I can tell that Asher is pissed at Zayn for yesterday. The tension is so thick, I could cut it with a butter knife.

"Kitty cat! You are glowing. Have a good day again?" Zayn asks. Asher tenses up but I ignore him.

"I'm a bit drunk," I shrug, not answering the last part of his question.

Asher's eyes flick to mine, his jaw tight as he fights back words. He holds my gaze for a few seconds, before looking away.

Blake sits down next to Zayn, the two of them looking very much like double-trouble.

"Let's just get this over with," Asher says, tapping his phone.
