Karma truly is a bitch.

I'm so out of it, I don't hear the tapping on my window straight away. The door handle jiggles and I look up in a panic.

I stare in disbelief at the person on the other side, shocked to even see him here. I stop crying for a second, winding down the window.

"Unlock the doors, babe. Let me in."

My fingers hit the lock, watching as he walks around the bonnet to the passenger side. He opens the door, slipping in.

"What's going on? Are you okay?"

I shake my head, new tears forming. "It's all fucked. There's nothing left for me here. I'm taking off."

Chuck looks at me concerned as he grabs my hand. "I'm sure whatever it is, it will sort itself out."

"It won't, Chuck. I'm done. There's no fixing this."

He goes silent, giving my hand a little squeeze.

"Fuck it. I'm coming with you."

"What?" I ask, looking at him incredulously.

Chuck grabs the seatbelt, clicking it in. "We're too good for this town, Ry. Fuck it. Let's go."

"What about your brother?"

"He just got a job offer so he's moving across the state in three months. He'll be fine. But you and I? We're bigger than this. And we're always looking for an escape. So, let's do it. Let's escape and live our lives for once. Live in the moment and sort out the rest of our lives another time."

I smile at him, tightening my hold in his hand.

"Are you sure?"

Chuck smiles, leaning over to kiss my cheek. "Yeah, babe. Let's go fucking crazy. What's the worst that can happen?" He wipes my tears away, leaning down to softly kiss me.

I shake my head, starting the car up. The worst? I'm already living it… already lost everything. So, what else did I have to lose?

"Fuck it," I repeat his words, putting on my seatbelt. "Let's get out of here."
