“No, I’ve got this. I’m fine and my eye looks worse than it actually is. I’ll take my clients. Don’t worry, you’re not in any danger, Rico,” she assured.

“All right, but if something seems off or your face starts hurting, you are welcome to head home,” he said.

“Got it,” she agreed, “thanks, Rico,” she said.

Luna got through her first five appointments with ease, catching up on her schedule quickly. She was waiting for her last appointment when the bell over the door chimed, and she looked up to find one very pissed-off biker staring her down.

“I’m guessing that you figured out that I wasn’t in my room,” she teased. Demon didn’t look at all amused by her joking around.

“What the actual fuck, Luna?” he asked. “You were supposed to be taking a nap.”

“Well, I’m not a toddler, even if you and my brother insist on treating me that way, Demon. I needed to work, and I tried to explain that to both of you, but neither of you wanted to listen to me. So, I did what I had to do and escaped through the window.”

“You jumped out of a window to come to work?” Rico asked.

“I did, but don’t get too excited,” Luna said, “it was on the first floor.”

“Still, that’s pretty impressive,” Rico said.

“Um, thanks,” she said. “But Grandpa still seemed to find me, so I didn’t do that great of a job.”

Demon pointed at her, “Stop calling me that,” he insisted.

“I don’t think that you should piss that guy off, Luna,” Rico warned. “I think you might be playing with fire.”

“Thanks for the concern, boss, but I can handle myself.” She turned to face Demon and crossed her arms over her chest, noting the way that he looked her over. “I’m not done working for the day,” she insisted.

“I think that we need to talk, Luna,” Demon said.

“Well, I have one last client, and then, I’d be happy to talk to you. If you would like to schedule an appointment, I’d be happy to talk to you while giving you a tattoo.”

“Don’t be ridiculous, Luna,” Demon insisted. “I’m not getting a tattoo just so that I can talk to you.”

“Well, I refuse to talk to you once you drag me back to your house to be held like a prisoner, so I guess that we will not be speaking to each other, Demon.”

“I thought that you promised to stick around after our last clients to help me decorate for Halloween. It’s only about a week away and we’re usually fully decorated by now,” Rico reminded. She had promised him to stick around to help him with decorating. Then, she planned on going back to her apartment to decorate for her favorite holiday. She always got a good number of little trick-or-treaters who came through her apartment complex, and she loved it.

“Oh, that’s right,” she agreed, “I did promise to help you out.”

“Her plans have changed,” Demon challenged.

“And who exactly are you that you’re telling Luna what she can and can’t do?” Rico asked. Her boss was big and looked pretty menacing, but she was sure that nothing and no one had ever scared Demon enough to back down from a potential fight.

“Let’s just say that I’m her bodyguard. Her brother put me in charge of her safety, and I plan on doing one hell of a job,” Demon said. “So, I will hang around until your last appointment, and then, I’ll be dragging your sexy ass back to my house to keep you safe. I don’t care if I have to fucking sit on you, Luna. I’ll do whatever it takes to keep my promise to Joel.”

“Fine,” she spat, “but I still don’t plan on talking to you.”

“Unless I get a tattoo?” he asked.

“Correct,” she said. “I have to converse with my clients. If you were a client, I’d have to talk to you.”

“About anything that I want?” he asked.

She shrugged, “Sure,” she agreed, “we can talk about whatever you want to talk about.”

“Great,” he said, turning to Rico. “I’d like to book an appointment for this afternoon with Luna,” he said.
