Page 9 of Possessing Demon

“Don’t sound so surprised,” she insisted, “I’ve got many talents,” she whispered. He was sure that he was reading her right. She was probably very skilled in every way that he was imagining her to be, but that wasn’t something that he should let himself think about. He would just need to keep repeating, “Luna is Joel’s kid sister,” over and over again in his head, even if she was sending him mixed signals and turning him inside out with need.

Luna

They got back to Demon’s house after picking up some pizza on the way. Luna had to admit that she was exhausted. Her face hurt like hell, and all she wanted was an ice pack, some Tylenol, and a hot shower. “You look beat,” Demon said, cringing at his word choice. “Sorry, poor choice of words.”

She giggled and winced in pain, “Yeah—you could say that,” she agreed. “I am tired, though. I’d love a hot shower and then, bed.”

“Yeah, it’s been a long day, trying to run you down, and then having you disfigure me,” he teased.

“Hey,” she grumbled, “you said that you liked it.”

“I do,” Demon said, “I’m just joking around. Feel free to use the master bathroom. The tub in my spare bathroom isn’t working and I still haven’t had time to fix it.”

“Are you handy?” she asked, noting the way that he looked her over. She liked the way that Demon looked at her when he thought that she wasn’t paying attention to him. He had checked her out while she was drawing the rough draft of his tattoo and she had to admit, it turned her on. The only question was, would he act on the sexual attraction that she felt humming between the two of them, or leave her wanting? Knowing her track record with men, he’d never act on it and that would just plain suck. Sure, she was younger than he was, but age never really mattered to her. She liked older men—they didn’t play games like the younger ones. Young guys only wanted one thing—sex, and when they were done with her, they usually took off and never called her again. Forget trying to have a relationship with a younger man. They weren’t interested in anything long-term, leaving her perpetually single.

“I like to pretend to be,” Demon answered. “I mean, if I can’t figure it out, one of the guys down at the club can, but I still like to give it a go before asking for help.”

“Doesn’t like to ask for help—got it,” she teased. “Honestly, Demon, I’m learning so much about you.”

“Ha, ha,” he drawled. “How about you save the jokes for tomorrow and go take your shower? I’m going to need one too, so don’t use all of the hot water.” Luna wanted to point out that they could just shower together and save time and water, but she was sure that she’d be pushing her luck with him, and she’d already given him a pretty tough time today.

“All right,” she said, “would you mind making me an ice pack while I shower? I’m really hurting right now.”

“Yep, and here,” he said, grabbing a bottle of Tylenol from the kitchen cabinet, “take a couple of these.” She opened her hand, and he poured two into her palm. Demon handed her a glass of water and watched as she took her medication.

“Thanks,” she said, “I appreciate it.”

“The master is just up the stairs, past the room that you escaped from earlier this morning,” he called after her. Luna shot him the finger over her shoulder, and he chuckled. “For such a little girl, you sure do have a filthy mouth.”

“That’s my finger, asshole,” she sassed, turning back to look at him. Luna wanted to see his face when she said what she was about to say to him. “But you’re right, my mouth can be filthy, Demon,” she breathed, noting the way that his eyes flared as he looked her over once more. Yeah, he was interested, but Luna had a feeling that getting him to admit that was going to be harder than she might imagine.

She finished her shower and walked out of the bathroom to find Demon laying on top of his bed, hands behind his head, wearing only his jeans. She had seen him earlier with his shirt off, while she gave him his tattoo, but seeing him like this made her want to climb on top of him and demand that he take her.

“Feel any better?” he asked, not bothering to sit up.

She had brought a pair of shorts and a t-shirt into the bathroom with her, and Luna was happy that she did. If not, she’d be wearing just a towel and it would have been easier for her to rip that off and get him to admit that he wanted her.

“A little bit,” she said.

“Oh, I put the ice pack in your room,” he said. “The bathroom in the hallway has a working toilet and sink. Feel free to use them if you need to tonight. I’ll work on getting the tub running in the morning,” he said.

“I don’t mind using your shower,” she admitted, “the rain head felt like a dream.”

“Yeah, I put that in when I bought the place. I really like it too. I just feel bad that you have to share a bathroom with me. Plus, you being here gives me an excuse to finally kick my ass into gear and get it working.”

“Well, glad that I could help with that,” she teased.

“I’ll also need to run to the grocery store tomorrow. I wasn’t expecting a house guest and don’t have much here. I can make breakfast in the morning, but then, we’ll need to run out for provisions.”

“Sounds good,” she said around a yawn. “I’m going to get some sleep.”

“Night, Luna,” Demon said.

“Night,” she breathed on her way out of his room. “Sleep tight.”

Luna woke up feeling worse than she had when she went to bed the night before. It felt like a truck had run over her face, and looking in the bathroom mirror, she realized that was what she looked like too. Her eye was swollen shut and trying to open it was more than painful.
