The Facility.
That was what I called it. But it may as well be calledThe Prison, because that was what it was for me in the days since I escaped the carnage with Finley. His father bought me back from the island and delivered me here, to the secure room where I was watched every damn second of the day.
I could leave…one chance, that was all I needed. I’d run and never look back. Change my name. Change my hair and my clothes. I’d become someone else…someone who wasn’t controlled. Someone who wasn’tme.A pang tore across my chest at the thought. But there were two things making me stay. My father, and my damn heart.
“Anna,” Fin called, drawing me back to the waiting car. “Please.”
I pulled away from thoughts of running away and resigned myself to my fate. Lights from the dashboard spilled into the footwell of the car. I focused on that, on the asphalt under my boots, on the smell of rich leather, onanythingapart fromhim,and climbed in.
Because I just couldn’t stand the pain.
Fin shut the door behind me carefully. The headlights spilled over his muscular body as he rounded the sports car. Then he was here, so damn close. The seductive scent of his body so fucking delicious, making my body react in ways that unnerved me.
As though he knew what I was feeling, he turned his head, those perfect brown eyes finding me in the dark. Desperation collided in his eyes. His chest rose a little harder with a breath before he lowered his gaze to the curve of my breasts.
His hand moved in the dark. I didn’t leave his gaze as he worked the button of my white collared blouse. Just one button…the one that was in his way. The back of his finger caressed my lace bra, grazing my nipple, finding me puckered and tight.
“I missed you today,” he murmured, his voice deep and hunky as his finger slipped under the cup.
I flinched with the contact, the warmth of his finger drawing shudders through my body.
“I’m going to take you home now,” he continued. “And straight to bed.”
“I’m not tired,” I lied.
“Who said anything about being tired, Anna?”
My insides clenched. That need bloomed deep inside me. He was the only man I knew and the only man I wanted to. I just wished I didn’t want to.
I broke his gaze, forcing my focus to the front of the car and the grounds of the place I hated more than anything. Finley stabbed the button for the engine, and started the car.
We were driving through the secure gate and past the armed personnel in an instant, pulling out onto the quiet darkened road that was closed to the rest of the world.
“Are you ever going to talk to me?”
I winced at the words. We didn’t talk. Not like how he wanted to. Minimal words…all heat, our hunger did our talking us. Even that I wished I could kill. Finley slowed the car, pulling out past the signs marking Private Property and Trespassers Will Be Prosecuted signs and out to the main road that would lead us toward the city to the house we shared.
A house owned by Salvatore money.
Money I'd laundered.
Fin’s fists tightened around the steering wheel, strangling it as he punched the accelerator. Headlights cut through the darkness. The sleek sports car hugged the corners, never missing a beat as it took us home.
Home was a battleground of emotions. I could hate the facility. I could slam doors and throw pens. I could curl my lips and bare my teeth at the cameras. But here…here I couldn’t do any of that. The sensor on the dashboard blinked, and the towering black steel gate slid open, leaving us to drive to the house.
I was already yanking the handle before he killed the engine. He swore hard as I stepped out, slamming the door closed behind me.
“Anna…wait, for fucks sake!”
But I wasn’t waiting. I strode toward the front door and pressed my thumb against the scanner before unlocking the door.
“Anna!”Fin growled behind me.
I headed inside, making my way to the rear of the house.
“God damnit!”
The heavy thud of his steps boomed behind me. He grabbed my arm as I stepped through our bedroom door, turning me to face him.
