“Hello? Is anybody watching, or are we all on break like normal and stroking each other’s cocks?” I yell, pacing around the room as I glare at the camera. “Why kidnap me and just lock me in here? Or are you so unoriginal this is all you could come up with? Oh, I’m so scared?” I let all my fears and worries flow from my mouth until I’m just ranting at the camera. I’m so deep into a rant, I barely hear the door open, but I do, and I cut my words off and spin, glaring at the smiling face of Doctor Hayes.
“Hello, Talia. How wonderful of you to join us.”
“Oh yeah, like it was a voluntary invitation,” I snap, crossing my arms.
He frowns then, watching me carefully. “You work for us. We sent you on a field experiment, where you were kidnaped and held by monsters. We rescued you, and this is the thanks we get?”
“Who said I was kidnapped?” I ask, my eyes narrowed.
“You did not return with your research, despite knowing how important it was to the company, and when we found you, you were still in the lab with a monster… Or am I wrong?” The look he gives me tells me he knows he is, but he wants me to say it. “Did you make friends, Talia? Did you make friends with some monsters and feel sorry for them?”
I grind my teeth as he smirks.
“Or maybe you looked at the research.” My eye twitches, and he grins smugly. “Poor little Talia, are you fucking the monsters?”
I slap him as hard as I can, and his head snaps around, but when it comes back, he’s furious. “You are going to regret that,” he informs me, his eyes slitted, showing the evil underneath.
“Nah, it felt too good, and to see that perfect, anal-retentive hairstyle move out of place? It was worth it. So, Doctor Hayes, you seem obsessed with the monsters and fucking. Do you want to fuck them?” I run my eyes down his body. “It would make sense. You seem like you are strung awfully tight, so a good monster fuck might loosen that.”
I blame my fear, my anger, and my head wound for my words, but in all honesty, I don’t regret them. Maybe Aria is rubbing off on me, or maybe I hate the bastards who did this.
“Have you finished?” he sneers, clearly annoyed. I nod, and he sniffs, looking me over. “Good, let’s get you cleaned up and back to work.”
“Back to…work?” I hedge, staring at him like he’s lost his mind.
“Yes. After all, we have the research now and the person who can read it.”
Fuck.

The human world is terrible. No wonder my brilliant Talia didn’t shine brightly here.
I follow Aria reluctantly, scanning our surroundings silently as I search for any traces of my Tally.
I don’t have it in me to speak or be polite. Talia is my sole focus, and the only thing I can concentrate on is getting to her side. When Akuji talks to his mate, I block him out, not wanting the distraction.
The human world is not suitable for my sunshine Talia. It’s too dark, too dull, and too full of pain. She needs pretty lights, flowers, books, and art. She needs beauty and happiness. She needs support…
She needs me, and when I get her back, I’m going to show her that.
For a moment, a dark thought spirals through my head. What if she doesn’t want to come back? What if she wants to stay here with the humans? But then I remember her fighting to get to me, fighting her own people.
