Oh, God. Aw, fuck. He should never have come.

Because lounging on that sofa was Breck—along with two nearly naked, bombshell babes. One a blonde, with wet hair down to her ass, the other a balayage brunette, with flawless light brown skin. Both wearing microscopic thong bikinis and absolutely nothing else.

Kai’s heart sank as he processed the image, Breck kicked back with one girl straddling his lap, the other pressed against his side. Not that Kai could actually see his face. That girl to the side held his head turned in her direction, her gaze hooded and her smile wide as she nibbled his lips.

ItwasBreck, though. Kai knew it was. Recognized his skull cut, his body, hisink—since, no, he wasn’t wearing a shirt. Just a pair of red swim trunks.

Kai’s brows pinched. He needed to look away, but was still trying to reconcile the visual staring him in the face. The girl on Breck’s lap, grinding against his crotch, her hands splayed over his as he palmed her tits. All while gorgeous girl number two leisurely kissed his mouth.

Problem was, there’d be no reconciling this, because no explanation could justify this scene. Not when, in no way, was Breck trying to stop them. He actually seemed pretty content with letting them do as they pleased. All lounging on that fucking couch as they indulged in his body.

Something split open inside Kai’s chest, the pain staggering as flashbacks of a similar incident roared back to his mind. When he’d likewise walked in on Ryan with two other men. That night had devastated him, but this… This hurt so much more.

Breck had acted like Kaimeantsomething to him. Like he’d wanted something more for them. And yet, look at him now, only two days later.

Back to drunk as hell and draped in women.

Kai clenched his jaw.

Breckwasjust like Ryan after all. But even worse.

Blood draining from his head, spilling from his heart, he turned and regarded his environment. The partying, the sexual prospects, the drinking, the drugs. Breck’s high-profile friends… Kai shook his head. Breck’s lifestyle wasexactlylike Ryan’s. And it would only grow more so when he got signed to the NBA.

Which he would. It wasn’t even a question. That kid was a prodigy on the basketball court. Life wouldn’t calm down. Fame would exaggerate things, putting Breck in the limelight—and higher up on the social ladder—more than ever before.

Where Breck clearly wanted to be.

Where he’dfightto be.

His top priority—public recognition. Kai’s gaze slid back to Breck and those girls. Recognition and a stream of eager women to sate his every need.

His jaw ticked in anger and disgust.

What afoolhe’d been to have hoped Breck had changed. To have dared to think that they might have a chance. He turned to go—

“Who’re you?” a deep voice rumbled.

Kai turned and lifted his gaze to meet the eyes of amuchtaller guy. He looked familiar. A player on Breck’s basketball team. “I’m… Kai,” he muttered, still trying to gather himself.

“Reggie.” The guy offered his fist. “Haven’t seen you before. You lookin’ for someone?”

Kai bumped knuckles, fighting back a frown. “Yeah… but he’s not here.” Evidently, thesomeonehe’d been looking for didn’t exist.

Shredded, he turned and headed for the exit, uncaring that he’d left his heart behind on the floor.

He was so fucking done with Breck Harland.

So fucking done.

“Breeeeeeck…”

Breck sluggishly stirred to the sound of a singsong voice. Afemalevoice. Coming from somewhere disconcertingly close.

“Wake up, handsome…”

Watermelon breath wafted past his nose.
