“She’s right. I’ll be taking her upstairs to our room. Nobody will see my woman having sex.”

“Of course not,” I muttered.

His eyes flashed as he tugged me closer. “Missed you, baby,” he whispered at the shell of my ear. “You really do look good enough to eat.” His tone made goose bumps cover my arms. “I will later…”

Storm

Tonight was the first big club party we’d had all summer. A party had been the last thing on my mind while handling the Dirty Hunters. But this was good. I was damn grateful Turner, the president of Fallen Soldiers, sent his VP, Jack, out with his SAA, Deacon and a few patched members to help us. The Soldiers were a small MC of only thirteen. Aside from my dad’s club, the original KLMC, our closest allies were my dad’s cousin, Ben’s club in North Dakota. The Knights were taking over the Upper Midwest.

My brothers were relaxed, drinking with their chosen lady. I could already tell it was going to be a wild night. Looked like we might get some rain, too.

Madeline was perched on my lap. I felt like a true king with my queen. For five years, I had ruled Knight’s Legion. It hadn’t been easy. I missed my Uncle Matt, struggling to do this job without him. Sure, Raul had been a great mentor, but he wasn’t my uncle.

Uncle Matt had been the only person I trusted. Aunt Eve tried to fill the void in my life, but I couldn’t let her in as I had Uncle Matt. I stopped trusting women after my mom took off, leaving my dad and me. After all the screwing around my old man did with the sweet butts, I couldn’t blame her. She’d found a new man and had a new life and family. I was glad she was happy, but what about me? Her son?

The only person I had let close to me since Uncle Matt died was my best friend, Track. I trusted him with my life. He never judged me after confessing my greatest sin.

I hated dredging up the past. No matter how hard I tried to fake being over it, it all barreled back every June like a goddamn tornado, knocking me off my feet and tossing me around like the helpless pussy I’d been the day Tommy died.

The day I had killed him.

I was thinking a lot about Tommy tonight. It was because I was about to see Toby for the first time in twelve years. Finally, after all these years of hating myself and feeling like a worthless piece of shit, an angel brought the light back into my life. My avenging angel chased away the darkness.

“You didn’t tell me there’d be a band.” Madeline’s baby blues glittered. I stroked her inner thigh with my thumb.

Her hand pressed against the side of my face as we stared into each other’s eyes, heat smoldering between us. I knew all my woman’s signs of arousal. Dilated eyes, rapid breathing, and a flushed face, were her tells. Indescribable energy seeped out of her pores and wrapped around me like a vice.

“You gonna sing for me, Angel?” I licked her bottom lip.

“What?”

Tara squealed. “Oh my God, yes!”

Steph clapped. “You betcha, she’ll sing.”

Madeline glared at them, then faced me. “Absolutely not.”

“You chicken, Madeline?” Lynx taunted. “I’ve heard you, girl. You rock the stage.”

“She sure does.” Tara grabbed Madeline’s hand and shook it. “Come on, girlfriend. Get your ass on the stage and show these bikers what you can do.”

“They don’t need to see what I can do.”

“You sing?” Emilee asked, eyes full of intrigue. She and Madeline had grown closer over the last couple of months. I often found them talking about college and kids.

“I do, but not here.” Madeline shook her head.

“Angel, just one song. Any song you want.” I wrapped my arms around her waist.

“Storm—” she breathed my road name, eyes pleading.

Everyone at the table stared at my girl. I looked for Sugar. If she were here, she’d help me convince Madeline to sing. Sugar had a gift with people and could get most to do anything.

“Oh my gosh, sing ‘Bleeding Love!’” Steph bounced on the bench with her blonde ponytail swaying from side to side. “I love it when you sing it. Tara can sing back up.”

A weird pang in my chest appeared. For some reason, the song sounded familiar. I brushed it off, figuring I was just excited to hear my girl sing again.
