Later that evening at the armory, I was on my second rum and coke. The stupid shower had done nothing to strip Storm from my mind. I shouldn’t have been surprised. The jerk monopolized my dreams at night and controlled my daydreams. It pissed me off that I couldn’t get him out of my head.

It’d been a few weeks since the day we spent together at Lake Waleska. I still tasted him on my tongue and felt his large hands flush on my back when we slow danced. No other man had ever made my panties soaking wet.

The kiss I’d planted on him in the park only made me remember what I was missing. Kissing Storm made my body buzz with need. When his hand brushed along the sides of my hips and gripped my ass, I’d almost orgasmed. Pathetic, right?

Running away from him hadn’t been easy, and I’d regretted it immediately. What would be the point in trying to figure us out? He’d said love, marriage, and children weren’t something he wanted. I wouldn’t be an easy lay for him. Even though I wanted more than anything for him to screw my brains out, just once.

Yeah, I knew better. Once would never be enough. I could tell by the off-the-charts chemistry we had. I’d never get enough of Storm. Never.

I growled low in my throat, gulping the remaining liquid in my glass. I just wanted to forget about Mr. Biker Prez. Listening to Ray’s band wasn’t helping either.

“Girl, what gives? You look about as happy as a flaming hot, puss-filled pimple.” Steph snorted, nudging my elbow. “It’s summer vacation. Us teachers should be happy.”

I bobbed my head in agreement. All my teacher friends were thrilled to be on summer vacation. Usually, I’d have been happy with them… If it weren’t for a particular biker, who’d invaded my every thought and made me feel things I’d never felt before.

“I’m convinced something happened while she was at the lake, but she’s not talking. She hasn’t even accepted Josh’s dinner invitations. She’s ignoring him.” Tara studied me as she enlightened Steph. This girl believed she was the authority on all-things-Madeline.

“What happened, honey?” Steph cooed as if talking to one of her kindergarteners.

“Just… You know… Tommy.” My chest squeezed as the partial lie left my lips, but they’d both accept it without question. I was a horrible sister. My little getaway was supposed to be about my brother. I didn’t want to go home to visit his grave. I’d thought the lake was a perfect alternative. Then Storm appeared unexpectedly. Thoughts of my brother drifted away in the breeze.

“Gosh darn it, Mads.” Tara’s arms flew around my neck. “I’m so sorry I forgot the anniversary of his death. Worst friend ever.”

“It’s okay.” I patted her arm. It really was. From the moment Storm blew into my life, like an F5 tornado, I’d been utterly consumed by that devastatingly handsome biker. Worst sister ever.

“No wonder you’ve been down lately.” Steph made a pouty face. “Get you another drink, honey?”

“Sure.” Why not get drunk? Anything to forget about him.

Just as Steph hopped out of the chair next to me, a quartet of bikers entered the armory. They strutted in as if they owned the joint.

On a panicked gasp, I gripped Steph’s hand to stop her. “Wait.”

My first inclination was the Knights had come to cart me away. Then I rolled my eyes at the ridiculous image my mind conjured. Storm didn’t really give a shit about me. He’d probably already found a better, more accepting woman who fit into his MC life. A siren in a leather mini skirt barely covering her ass, sans panties, of course. Horny-ass bikers probably demanded easy, fast as lightning access to pussy.

My stomach churned at the thought of Storm with another woman. Kissing her, touching her, smelling her juices like he’d smelled mine.

Bile shot into my throat. I rushed to the bathroom, covering my mouth with my hand, clinging to the nearest toilet and emptied my stomach. Gawd. I never should’ve eaten those nachos. The rum and cokes didn’t help either.

Tara and Steph entered as I gagged and heaved.

“You okay, Mads?” Tara collected my long hair in her hand. “Steph, hair tie.”

“Got one right here.” Steph regularly wore at least three hair ties on her wrist.

I wiped my mouth with toilet paper and stood after Tara secured my hair. “Thanks. I probably drank too much.” Lie. My vomiting incident had Storm’s name written all over it. “I think I’ll cut out early tonight.” Then I could wallow over my pathetic life and not be a party pooper.

“Yes. Good idea. Rest up. Don’t want you missing the Fourth of July barbecue out at the lake. I can give Tara a ride if she wants to stay,” Steph offered, knowing I’d brought Tara in my car.

“Dang, I’d forgotten about the barbecue.” Just further proof of how much Storm had infiltrated my mind.

“Seriously? You are off your game.” Steph chuckled. “What do you say, Tara?”

She had no idea how messed up I was. I exited the stall, rinsed my mouth, and washed my hands.

“Sounds good to me, unless Mads wants me to go home with her.” Tara’s sable-colored orbs focused on me.

I preferred Tara left with me. The bikers who’d entered weren’t Knights, they were Hunters, and pitted-leather-face was with them. They freaked me out. I hated the idea of my friends being around them.
