But what would I do? Hang out in the store until it closed? Then what? Hope for the best? Pray the Hunter got tired of waiting for me?

What other choice did I have?

The Walmart parking lot was mostly empty, affording me a parking spot right in the front. I grabbed my purse, the shake, and mozzie sticks and hightailed it into the store. Tossing the food into the trash, I breathed a sigh of relief.

I’m safe.

“What the fuck you mean she’s been in Walmart wandering around for an hour?” I roared into the phone. The prospect had one job. One fuckin’ job: stay out of sight while tailing Madeline.

What does little shit do? Allow himself to be seen—stupid fuck.Madeline was probably shaking in her boots, scared shitless in the damn produce department.

Sonofabitch.

“Sorry, Prez. At this time of night, the town is empty. No cars to hide behind.” His voice shook, exhaling a nervous breath.

“Don’t gimme your fuckin’ excuses, boy.” My nostrils flared as I huffed like a bull seeing red.

“What’s going on?”

I lifted my gaze to Track, standing in the doorway of my office. He must have heard me yelling over the music in the bar. I waved him off, but the asshole entered anyway and dropped into the chair.

“She buyin’ anything?” I turned my attention back to AJ on the phone.

“No. Just looking around with her arms wrapped tightly around her chest.”

“Chest? You looked at her chest?” I stood from my chair, rolling my hand into a fist.

“N… no Prez.” AJ stuttered. The little shit, he better be afraid. Although only twenty-one, he’d proven himself thus far to be dependable in completing every shit job given to him.

“Prospect, if you don’t improve your fuckin’ tailing skills you won’t get patched next year,” I yelled into the phone. Madeline was more important than washing the councils’ bikes or cleaning urinals.

I stalked out of my office to the clubhouse entrance. I couldn’t have Madeline scared out of her mind. I needed to make sure she was okay after the fuckin’ Hunters showed up at the armory. I’d had AJ staking out the place when Madeline and her friend went inside. My gut told me to keep the prospect there, and I was glad I had. AJ had texted the second the Hunters arrived. Then another text came, informing me of prospects drooling over Madeline and her friends in the parking lot. I lost my shit.

Those dirty sons of bitches were not only in Knight’s territory, but a source of Boxer’s had heard one of the Hunters talking about profiling. Those fuckers were scoping out women in Winters, and Madeline was one of them.

At this point, I was going to protect her with my life. Even if from a distance, I cared too damn much to let anything happen to her.

“Keep watch. I’m on my way.” I ended the call and cut my eyes to Track.

“What’s up with your woman?” He climbed on his bike.

“She’s not my woman.” I tugged my keys out of my pocket.

Fuckin’ Track just had to be a shit, calling Madeline my woman. So what if I had a prospect watching her every day. I was only concerned about her safety. Nothing more.

“Bullshit, Prez. She means something to you. What’s the latest?”

“Earlier today, AJ spied a Dirty Hunter at her house.” My heart raced, jaw tight. The parking lot here at the compound was packed for the usual Friday night club party. I’d avoid it. My Angel was all I could think of.

“Fucking hell. That’s why your office was a mess of wood and glass.” Track started his bike.

I grunted, throwing my leg over the seat. I’d trashed my office in a fit of rage. But it wasn’t all about the fuckin’ Hunters being at her house. I was still pissed about her dancing with another man and running away from me at the park. I shouldn’t be wound so tightly, but I fuckin’ missed her.

In the last couple of weeks, I’d been stressed to the max while dealing with the Hunters. I knew Madeline could calm me down with her tender touch and kisses, but she wasn’t mine. Fuck, I hated it too.
