“Why not?” I was curious about her thoughts on the kittens.
“Ugh… The kittens are okay, a little catty sometimes. No pun intended.” Tina snorted. “They’re here for a purpose, one we don’t get a say in, if you know what I mean.”
“Sex?”
“Yup, that’d be it.” Tina made a face like she didn’t like it and I was right with her. “I don’t like how they slink around like they rule the roost. Not all of them are awful, but you’ve met Carla.”
I inhaled a deep breath. “Yes, I have. Storm assured me there was nothing between them, but she was his favorite, and he didn’t share her.”
“Hon, as far as I could tell, he only fucked her. He’d take her into the bathroom or over a table or against the wall. He was never alone with her for longer than five minutes.”
I gaped. “Did he do it in front of everyone?”
Tina nodded with a frown. “Yes. He didn’t care because she didn’t mean anything to him. Not like you.”
“Oh my gosh. I can’t imagine having sex out in the open.”
Tina shrugged. “It’s what a kitten is here for. They have a job to do. None of them are ever meant to be an ol’ lady. I mean, they could, I guess. If one of the guys fell in love. But our guys are too damn possessive and don’t like to share.”
“Like Storm.”
“Mhm. For him, it was about control and showing the others, he was the king. But kittens belong to the club, to the patched members. Most of the women want to be with all the guys, not just one. A few have gotten clingy, like Carla. They don’t usually stick around long if they get possessive with the men.”
“I hate seeing Carla around.”
“I know how you feel. It was the same for me when I first got here. Raul was a mean, dirty fucker.” Her voice trailed off. She left me hanging on her every word, hoping she’d tell me more. “I once caught him with his pants down fucking a kitten when we were getting to know each other. He was such a bastard back then. Ruthless. He had his reasons. But let me tell you, that kitten was gone once I became his ol’ lady. And I’ve had him by the balls ever since.”
“Wow. He fucked a kitten while he was with you?” I couldn’t believe she’d be with him if he was screwing someone else.
Tina frowned. “I was kind of messed up back when we first got together.” She shrugged her shoulders. “Raul was too. I guess we were made for each other with all the shit we’d been through. Once he claimed me, he didn’t fuck anyone else.”
“I wouldn’t stand for Storm screwing a kitten or any other girl.” I fisted my hands at my sides. No man would ever cheat on me again.
“Well, you’ll have more power than Sugar and me to deal with the club whores.”
I lifted my gaze to Tina’s. “I will?”
“Oh honey, you’ll be the prez’s ol’ lady. You will reign as the queen.” Tina winked. “You’ll have all the control over the kittens. Just don’t get rid of all of them. Some are pretty sweet.”
I considered Tina’s words and knew Carla would be gone in a flash. I hadn’t had a problem with the others. “I thought some of the guys had ol’ ladies, like Wolf?” Subject change. I wanted to stop talking about Carla.
“Oh sure, Jill. Wolf’s woman is great, but she hardly comes around. Before the fire, she worked her ass off seven days a week at her boutique. Boxer is her brother. I don’t know if you knew that.”
“I didn’t.”
“They’re pretty close. He sent Jill to visit her bestie in Seattle while the club cleaned up the mess in her shop. Since she got back, I haven't seen much of her.” Tina bit her lower lip and narrowed her eyes. “You got me off track with my question. You’re slick.”
“I’m with five-year-olds all day. Deflection is required to survive.”
Tina laughed. “I bet. So. Tell me how you feel about Storm. Because girl, I’ve never seen the prez like this. And I’ve been around since before he was sent to us. He’s crazy about you.”
“What do you mean sent to you?”
“There’s my girl.” Storm made a beeline for me the moment he stepped into the room. He cradled my face in his big, calloused hands and kissed me in front of Tina like she wasn’t just a few feet away. “Missed you, baby. Doing okay?”
I bobbed my head as his nose touched mine. He dropped another kiss on my lips.
“I’m fine. What about you?”
