“No, don’t go there. I’ve spoken to Snow, so has Tina. As long as you keep appropriate boundaries with Boxer, she doesn’t have an issue with you. It was good Boxer kept her away from the club for as long as he did. Snow doesn’t pretend she’s all right with him being with you and the kittens, but she understands he was a free man at the time.”

“I don’t want her to hate me.” Libby tucked her legs under her. “It was just sex. You know how it is. Boxer is my friend. I’m happy he found Snow again.”

I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. Maybe the bump on the back of my head was interfering with my understanding of what these women were discussing.

“Okay, I have to ask because I was gone so long.” Emilee shifted in her spot, turning toward Libby. “You and Grizzly, I sense something more is going on between you two.”

Libby’s face flushed. “Nothing beyond sex.”

Emilee screwed up her face. “Really?”

“He has a special place in my heart. I won’t deny that. But I don’t want to be tied to one man.”

“Not ever?” I blurted before stopping myself.

“Nope, not ever. I’m a kitten. I love men and sex. Being with one guy for the rest of my life just seems wrong.”

“Okay, okay, you all are going to freak Jaynee out.” Zander’s voice filled the room.

“Zander! You came back!” Sadie ran to him and was promptly lifted in his arms.

“I told ya I’d be back, peanut.” He kissed the side of her head and cut his gaze to me. “Can we leave her with these fine women for an hour or so?”

My eyes widened, surprised he would suggest such a thing. I was sure Emilee and Maddy were nice women. Even Libby seemed okay. But leave my baby girl? Yeah, not happening.

“She’ll be fine,” Maddy assured. “We’ll stay right here until you get back.”

Zander set Sadie on her feet. She skipped over to the babies and “choo-chee cooed” their little feet.

He strutted toward me with his hand extended. “Come on, Jay. We won’t be too long.”

My heart raced as I took his hand, letting him tug me up. “If you’re sure she’ll be okay.”

“You have my word.”

I believed him. It freaked me out how he put me at ease.

Nothing could be good about this, but here I was, leaving the building with him.

The Bullet wasn’t at all what I had envisioned. The structure was a large log cabin, all wood on the inside, surprisingly cozy and totally country.

I strolled across the stage, my boots clicking on the wooden floor. My luggage had arrived right before Zander and I left. I was so glad. Wearing his sweats without panties and a bra was weird. I smelled him. His cologne drove me wild when the fabric between my legs rubbed against my clit. It was the worst kind of torture when he was nearby.

And I preferred my own clothes.

“Local indie bands play a few times a month.” His voice came from behind me. “Then we have karaoke night every Friday and Saturday.”

“Karaoke?” I turned in a circle, taking it all in. “Do you sing?”

He laughed. “No.”

“Not at all?” I eyed a familiar pole in the corner of the stage and went to it.

“Only in the shower.”

“What do you belt out while washing yourself?” My face heated as I avoided making eye contact. Why did I ask him that? An image of him wet and naked flashed behind my eyes. I fought the urge to look at him. Instead, I glided my fingers down the cold metal. If music was on, I might wrap my leg around it and grind my needy pussy. It’d been nearly six months since the last time I’d been with a man. Hanging with a hot guy like Zander was pure torture.

“Back at One.” He hadn’t even taken a second to think about it.
