Boxer rose from his chair. “I’ll keep an eye on Ire.”

Hero put his hands on his hips and blew out a frustrated breath. “I guess I’ll call Stephen. In the meantime, we need to prepare for more retaliation, because I’m pretty sure a meeting won’t happen.”

“Agreed. We’ll have church in the morning. Let everyone know.”

There was a knock at the door that sounded firmer than the way my Angel knocked.

Hero answered it. “What can I do for you, Sugar?”

“Sorry to interrupt. I wanted to talk to Storm.”

“We’re all done here.” I waved Sugar in.

Sugar waited until the door closed before she sat in the chair Boxer was in. She seemed uneasy, which put me on alert.

“We have a full clubhouse.” She clasped her hands in her lap.

“Yes. Is there a problem with that? Cobra and his crew are needed; so are the Soldiers.” I wasn’t sure what to think. Sugar had rarely questioned my authority or plan of action. That didn’t mean she hadn’t butted in where she didn’t belong, like when she’d contacted my old man when Angel had been taken by the Dirty Hunters. Sugar had crossed the line, but I was glad she had. My dad and I would still be estranged if it hadn’t been for her.

“I know.” She stared at me. Something was bothering her. “I need to tell you something, but you can’t tell anyone.”

I leaned forward, putting my arms on the desk. “Has something happened?”

“No. Not exactly.” Her eyes teared up. “Well, not yet I mean.”

“What’s going on, Sugar?”

“The women don’t even know about this. I just didn’t want you in the dark.”

“I appreciate that. Now tell me what’s going on.”

She rubbed the palms of her hands along the tops of her thighs. “First, I need to leave.”

“Leave where? The club’s on lockdown.”

She bobbed her head. “I know. I thought I’d go visit Mickey in Arizona. That’s far enough from the danger, right?”

I narrowed my eyes. “Why do you want to leave, Sugar?”

“Because I can’t take the tension. I’ll go crazy, Storm. Please just let me leave. Just until…” Her voice trailed off.

“Just until when?”

“Until Turner and his men are gone.”

I vaulted out of my chair, pushing it into the wall behind me. “Has one of the Soldiers tried something with you?”

She got to her feet, putting her hands up. “Oh God. See? This is why I’m afraid to tell you anything. No, no one has touched me. Not yet anyway.”

“Not yet?” I growled.

“Please sit down.” She blocked the door. “You need to hear me out.”

“Sugar, if one of those guys tried anything with you, I will kill them.” I’d come to trust the Fallen Soldiers over the years. We’d helped each other out. But if one of them had put their hands on my aunt, I’d burn them all to the fuckin’ ground.

She swallowed thickly. “I know.”

“So did one of them touch you?”
