“I’m close. Don’t stop.”

I ravaged her, giving her everything and more until she screamed my name and came on my tongue.

“Art!” And she blew. It was fucking epic. Every time she gave in to me was better than the previous.

“Holy buckets.” She panted, holding onto her head. “Oh my gosh, I needed that.”

I pressed my finger to her tight rosette. “And I need this hole, baby. Be ready for me after the meeting.”

She tensed, dropping her mouth open. “The meeting with Deek?”

“Yeah.” I caressed her thighs and licked my lips, savoring every bit of her.

“But I thought you weren’t going.” She sat up. “Art, you can’t go.”

I studied her, hearing the panic in her voice. “Are you worried about me?”

She lowered her dress to cover herself. “I’m worried for all of you. None of you should go.” She was stubborn to the very end.

“I don’t have a choice. None of us do.”

I watched the lust fade in her hazel-green eyes, and clarity of what we’d just done replace it. “I need to go.”

“Of course you do.”

“Don’t act hurt.” She opened her hand. “My panties.”

“The least you can do is let me have them as a souvenir since I’m blue balling it.” I adjusted my hard-on.

“Serves you right for seducing me.”

I snorted and tossed the black silky underwear at her. “Here. I don’t want them with an attitude like that. Put yourself together.” I went to the door and opened it.

“Where are you going?”

“As if you really care.”

“Art, don’t be like this.” She hopped off the tattoo bed. “We shouldn’t have crossed the line. It will only make things more awkward between us.”

“No, Eve. You’re making things awkward. You’re the one too goddamn afraid to be with me. My patience is dwindling.”

“I told you to forget about me.”

“You say it like it’s so easy when you’re in love with a person and around them every day.” My heart hammered.

“It’s not easy for me either.” Her eyes shined with emotion. I wanted to take her into my arms and kiss away her sadness, but it was her pushing me away. It was her keeping us apart from each other.

“Right, Eve. You sure act like it’s easy for you.”

She shook her head and wiped under her eyes. “I can’t draw in a breath until I see you in the morning, then I go to bed alone and cry. I cry, Art. I cry myself to sleep because we can never be together. You and me, we aren't meant to be a couple. Love isn’t in the cards for us.”

“No. No! Fight for us, Eve. Give us a chance.”

“I’m sorry. I need to think of my sons and the club. I won’t create chaos when I can prevent it.”

“By breaking my heart? By rejecting me?” What kind of fucking sense was that?

“It’s breaking my heart too. Please stay away…” She wrapped her arms around her middle.
