“Naw, stay focused. Nothing can go wrong with getting Brynne,” Raul said.

“I know, Dad. She’s my priority.” Track sighed. “Hey, Storm?”

“Yeah, I’m here.”

“Did you know your cousin Bone was gonna be out here?”

Storm thought for a moment. “I don’t recall Cobra saying anything about it. What’s he doing?”

“Touring a few properties. The guys and I ran into him at a local diner.”

The guys he was talking about were Espada and Ryder. Cash was on his way to Minnesota and should arrive tomorrow while we met with Deek.

“Interesting. I guess they’re closer to setting up the Three Forks chapter. Last I heard, it was a couple of years off.”

“Nope, they’re doing it. Bone asked me to go with him for a second viewing of a three thousand acre property. The place is incredible, a rustic palace for Knights.”

“Did he put in an offer?” Storm asked.

“Yep, although he said they wouldn’t occupy it right away. Some modifications need to be made. I don’t know why. The log home is on a hill with views of the Bridger Mountains and the Missouri River Valley. It’s fucking amazing with eight bedrooms and bathrooms and nearly ten thousand feet of living space. Snowmobiling and off-roading and hunting would be next to none.”

“Sounds like you want to live there, brother,” Lynx said.

“Hell yes.”

“Well, that’s great for my cousins, but let’s get back to our business.” Storm went quiet when he heard Angel singing in the bar. Karaoke had started. “We have a vote to take.”

My mind drifted to Eve. I hadn’t seen her today. I felt like I was going through withdrawals. It didn’t matter that we were both angry with the other when she left my room last night. I loved her. But the highs and lows in our developing relationship were challenging to bear. I didn’t see it getting any easier until we went public… provided we didn’t destroy each other in the process.

“All right. Who’s in favor of sending a couple of men to help Deek rebuild?” Storm sat back in his chairs and waited for hands to raise.

No one seemed quick to say, aye. I preferred to stay out of the Vipers territory after we ambushed them.

Raul cleared his throat. “Keep in mind that Matt would agree to help the Vipers. He’d do it to end the war.”

Several groaned in the room.

Jeez, Matt always sounded more like a saint than a biker. I knew he was a badass, but I’d swear at the mention of his name, everyone got hearts in their eyes.

“Raul’s right. We want peace so our children can grow up in a safe place, not an ongoing, never-ending vendetta.” Storm stood. “Gimme your votes. Come tomorrow if the climate has changed with Deek, I’ll call church and take another vote.”

That was reasonable.

One by one, hands raised. I joined the rest.

“Aye,” Track said on the speaker.

Storm hit the mallet on the table. “It’s unanimous. Let’s have a good time tonight.”

I quickly got out of my chair and headed to the bar. Eve’s voice sent a bolt of lightning down my spine the second I entered the room. She was here and on stage singing a song by Heart with Lynx’s old lady, Jaynee.

I leaned against the bar and raised my hand for a drink.

Hollywood came my way. He was tending bar now that Copper was gone. “What’ll you have?”

“Just a draft.” I turned my attention back to Eve.

The song was nearing the end. She probably wouldn’t sing again, probably hoped to get her turn done before the rest of us showed up. The gentle swing of her hips and shoulders mesmerized me. She was so beautiful, I could hardly stand it.
