I sat there pretending that beautiful woman hadn’t just stabbed my heart with a spoon. No choice? Was she out of her mind? I had a choice, all right. Not even wild horses could keep me from her.

If Wolf and Copper weren’t ten feet away, I’d chase down Eve. Part of me wanted to beg for her love, while the other part wanted to force her to accept us. She was understandably scared. But I wasn’t a hormonal teenage boy looking to get his rocks off with an older woman.

Hell, in another year, I’d be thirty. So the fuck what if she was twelve years older?

Eve wasn’t a challenge, a conquest, someone I’d brag about to my buddies because I’d bagged her. I respected the hell out of Eve; admired her grit and convictions. However, I could do with a little less stubbornness and her pushing me away.

I bit down on my back molars, staying seated when I wanted to stomp upstairs to her bedroom and break the fucking door down.

She loved me.

I loved her.

We should be together.

“Buy you a drink, handsome?” Becca leaned into me, pressing her tit against my cheek. “We haven’t gotten to know each other yet. Don’t you want to explore me?”

My stomach churned. It hadn’t been easy to make up excuses for not wanting to be with the kittens anymore. Bikers didn’t suddenly stop having sex or give a fuck about fidelity. But Knights weren’t the typical flavor of outlaw bikers. We rode hard and played even harder, but once a woman caught our eye, we were all in.

Since Boxer’s wedding, I’d been all in with Sugar. Most of the club had been in Vegas, so we had a lot of alone time together, and I’d fallen hard for her. It might have sounded cliché, but everything had changed after she fell into my arms…

I laughed as I headed down the stairs to the kitchen. Boxer kept sending me pictures, a sort of play-by-play of the fun they were having in Vegas. The jerk knew I wished I’d been able to go, so seeing the antics he and Lynx were up made me envious.

I turned the corner, swiping my cell’s screen for the next image, and slammed into a body. The woman screamed as she toppled off a short ladder. Her blonde hair went in my face, obstructing my view as I grabbed ahold of her… ahold of her tits.

“Oh my gosh.” she gasped as I steadied her with my hands on her chest. Slowly she turned in my arms, my hands sliding around to her back.

“Sugar? Are you okay? Damn, I’m sorry. Didn’t see you on the ladder.”

We were both breathing rapidly, our eyes locked, and in each other’s arms.

“Art… I’m fine. Thanks.” Her gaze dropped to my lips at the same time my tongue darted out.

“You’re gorgeous up close like this.” It was like I was seeing her in a whole new light.

“You’re sweet but…” Her voice trailed as she stepped back. The apples of her cheeks turned pink and her hazel-green eyes sparkled.

“But nothing, Sugar. Have dinner with me tonight?” What was I doing asking her out?

She giggled. “You crack me up. We have dinner together every night.” She waved me off, but her bright eyes kept flicking my way.

My chest tightened as I watched her put away the ladder she’d been standing on to reach a high shelf. Things I hadn’t paid attention to seemed exposed by a spotlight. Her shapely body and fair skin tempted me. Her radiant smile and her sweetness reeled me in.

I was hooked…

“Art, can I get you a beer?” Becca’s voice jerked me back to the present.

“No thanks. I’m heading to bed. I have a splitting headache,” I replied as I stood.

She seemed hurt and disappointed. “Do you not like me? Is it the pink hair?”

I studied her face and hair. “I’ll be straight with you. I’m just not interested.”

“I haven’t seen you with anyone else. Are you not into women?”
