Eve and I had decided she’d stop taking birth control. We wanted to start a family once we were married. For me, I wanted a legacy. Someone to take my place as president when I retired. Eve’s reasons were more personal. She missed her momma and brother. Even though she had a large family at the club, she wanted her own. She wanted children.

“Do you really want a baby?”

“Yes. I want it all with you, Eve.”

Epilogue

Eve

Nine months later.

Matt beamed, holding both of his sons, one cradled in each arm. When we’d found out we were expecting twins, I had nearly lost my shit. Two babies at once? I was terrified.

Not Matt. He’d been my rock, supporting me every step of the way.

When I’d felt as large as a blimp, he’d told me I was the most beautiful pregnant woman in the world. With each new stretch mark that appeared on my stomach, he’d kiss it, calling it a medal of honor.

My man might be growly and intense when in president mode or in front of others, but he was tender and charming with me. In private, Matt was attentive and loving. Passionate and sexy.

Now, with two babies in his arms, he was a panty-melting rock star.

“Sugar, you are a champion.” He kissed the heads of our sons. “Maddox and Markey Knight. They are perfect.”

“You’re going to make me blush, Matt, if you keep gushing like that over me.” Seriously, there wasn’t a day that went by I didn’t swoon over my husband.

He hadn’t stopped praising me for bringing his sons into the world. My man spoiled me with affection. After laboring for five hours, I’d given up trying to deliver them naturally. I’d needed to give it a try, but our sweet boys weren’t cooperating.

“You deserve gushing and so much more, Sugar.”

I reached my arms out and made grabby hands. “Can I have one of them, please?”

He grimaced. “Sorry. I guess I’m a baby hog.”

I giggled. “It’s okay. I love seeing you dote on them.”

He leaned over and dropped a kiss on my lips. “I’m enamored with them. All the months of feeling them kick and talking to them led to this moment. They’re not little aliens, Eve.” He feigned surprise. “They’re humans, our sons. Fuck, I’m so happy.”

I kissed Markey’s cheek. “Don’t listen to Daddy. If I hear either of you dropping F-bombs, I’ll wash your mouth out with soap.”

Matt sat beside me. “That’s right; listen to your mother. She knows best. I wouldn’t want to get on her bad side.” He winked.

“You’re a stinker.” God, I loved this man. “When do you expect your brothers to come knocking?” I knew they’d been waiting in the lobby for a couple of hours. I was just so tired, the thought of visitors wasn’t appealing. My dad wouldn’t arrive until after supper.

“When you give me the go-ahead. There’s no rush, Sugar. If you want me to send them home, I will.”

“You’re a wonderful man.” I sighed, thinking of my brother. “I wish Johnny were here.”

Matt shifted on the bed to slip his arm around my shoulders. “Me too, baby.” He kissed my temple. “I’m sure our boys would’ve loved him.”

I bobbed my head. “What about your brother?”

“David? I’ll call him when I’m ready. What about Mickey?”

“I’ll wait until I’m home to call her.” The last time I spoke to Mick, she had sounded overwhelmed. Life in Arizona hadn’t been an easy adjustment for her. She missed me, Minnesota, and her parents, but I knew it had to do more with Justin. If it hadn’t been for him, she would’ve never moved away.

Matt studied me. “How about you get some rest? I’ll watch over you and the boys.” He removed his arm from behind me, then placed Maddox in the clear bassinet.

I kissed Markey before handing him to Matt. “Are you sure? I really could use a nap.”

He put the baby beside Maddox and covered them with the blanket Raul’s wife, Jessica, had knitted for them, then returned to my side.

I carefully curled into Matt, putting my head on his chest. Relaxing into him, I exhaled a heavy sigh. “I needed you.”

“I’m here, baby.” He rubbed my back soothingly. “I’m so damn happy. My whole life is in this room: my queen and my sons.”

I yawned, snuggling into him with a smile on my face. I loved my Knight more than I had a few seconds ago.

I couldn’t live without him.
