I got up after ending the call to check all the windows and doors, making sure they were secured. Knowing my little girl, she’d go to bed angry, but she should be fine in the morning.

At least, I hoped she’d be over it.

Church would begin in five minutes. The only people sitting at the table were Spectre, my sergeant at arms, and me. Hustler was still in the Twin Cities. He was coming home this weekend.

That left two missing from the table.

“Buff will be here. No idea about Bone.” Spectre twirled a pen on the table.

“Bone’s my VP. He should be on time or at least let me know if he’ll be late.”

Spectre shrugged.

Buff waltzed in, took his spot at the table, and jerked his chin at me.

“Glad you made it.” I glanced at my phone when a text came in—not Karma. And not Bone.

“I wouldn’t have missed church.” He shook his protein shake bottle. “I was in the parking lot on the phone with my guy up in Minot. Nothing new.”

“Good.” Minot, North Dakota, was where one of our charters was at. Buff had an informant there.” Know anything about Bone?”

“Other than he’s a dick these days? No.”

“These days? He’s been a dick since I became prez. He’d better get his head out of his ass and get with the program.” I’d had enough of my brother acting like a little bitch whenever the wind changed.

I lifted the gavel at one o’clock and hit it on the table. “Lock the door,” I told Spectre.

He did as commanded, but I could tell he was reluctant.

“I’m bringing church to order. There are two things we need to discuss. Number one is Minot. Wolf is riding up with us next week. I’m not optimistic we’ll find the girl he’s searching for, but you never know.”

“Who are you taking?” Buff asked.

“Only Spectre and a prospect. You need to stay and manage the warehouse district. Hustler will be back and can work the casino.”

“What about Bone?” Spectre eyed me. He and Bone were close. I was sure he was looking out for him.

“He’ll stay.”

“I think he wanted to go.” Spectre shifted in his chair.

“Oh really? I wouldn’t know that since he’s not here and hasn’t said anything about it. As far as I know, he’s not interested and has other business to attend to.” It fuckin’ pissed me off how Bone disrespected me at every turn.

“Fuck.” Spectre shook his head.

“Do you have a problem, brother?” I glared at him, my blood pressure spiking.

Buff snorted. “Only that his favorite brother isn’t here so he could sniff his ass.”

“Say that to my face, fucker.” Spectre was on his feet.

Buff vaulted out of his chair, braced his hands on the table, and leaned toward Spectre. He gave our younger brother a death stare as he said, “How’s this, Bone’s ass sniffer?”

“Enough!” I raised my hand before this quarrel came to blows. “Sit your asses down.”
