“Yes. If I slept with her, then it meant you didn’t have me by the balls.” He pulled his head back, a smirk playing on his lips. “You know you had me by the balls, Karma. I would’ve done anything for you.”

“Except you had sex with her.”

“No, I didn’t.”

“I heard you!”

“You heard her faking it and me rocking on the bed the way I fucked you. Micah and Silas were in the room next door. We had to make it sound real.” He dragged his fingers down my throat. “When I heard you stomp down the stairs, I wanted to run after you. I almost did, then I would’ve proven my brothers right.”

“Do you think I’m an idiot? That I’d believe anything you said after all this time?”

“I can prove it.”

“Sure you can.” I rolled my eyes, more for myself than him. The swell of heat and arousal between my legs distracted me. It tempered my hate, changing it to desire. Being this close to Abe made me a weak woman. If he was telling the truth, I doubted I could control myself.

“I recorded us. The video is dated. You can see and hear everything if you come back to the clubhouse with me.” He stroked my cheeks with the pads of his thumbs. “I paid the chick to play along. Paid her a lot to keep her mouth shut and lie to my brothers if they questioned her. I didn’t cheat on you, baby. I would never betray you.”

My emotions went haywire. A sob bubbled in my throat, my guts churning painfully as Ialmostbelieved him.

It didn’t matter, though. Too much time had passed. All the pain I’d suffered, the shit I almost did and definitely did do to survive, I couldn’t come back from them.

“Fine. You didn’t fuck her.” I pushed him away and slipped out between him and the wall. “You need to leave. Nova will be home soon.” Not true, but he didn’t know that. I went to the door.

“Are you fuckin’ kidding me?” He threw his hands up. “I just poured my heart out, and now you’re gonna stomp on it?”

“That was you pouring out your heart? You could use some work.”

“I’m trying, been trying, to get through to you for months. When I finally get the chance to tell you everything, you act like it doesn’t matter.”

“Because it doesn’t matter. You still betrayed me. You made me believe you were fucking another woman. You destroyed me! You didn’t even come to my house that night to apologize after you knew I was there!”

“I couldn’t.” He scrubbed his hands down his cheeks. “My brothers made me party with them.”

“Yeah. Of course. You couldn’t even call or text that what I’d heard was a lie. That it was all a sham to fool your brothers.” I reached for the doorknob.

Abe moved toward me in a flash and ripped my hand off the knob.

“Hey!”

“I went to your house the next day. Your parents told me you were gone for good. For good, Karma.”

“Yes.” I struggled to get my hand out of his grasp.

“Yes? How could you leave knowing you were pregnant with my baby?”

“How could I not, after hearing what I believed was you fucking another woman? I grew up around your club, Abe. Before you and I got together, I saw you with the club girls.”

“And when we were together, I was faithful!”

“I saw Micah and Levi screwing around all the time. Why would I want my child exposed to that kind of shit?”

“She’s my child! Mine!” He hit his fist on his chest. “It hurts that you think so little of me. After we got together, I never touched another woman, even when I couldn’t have you the way I wanted because you weren’t of age. I stayed faithful!”

“How do you know she’s yours?” I blew out a breath. “I’ve been with other men.”

“What men?” He roared and pushed me against the wall again.

“Do you honestly think I wouldn’t have found me a man or two, or five?” I laughed in his face. “Get over yourself. After you shattered my heart, I felt no love or loyalty to you.”
